Default HUb Question just need a real quick answer

I just picked up rear trailing arm's from a si from a great honda tech person, but i was looking at it right now and one of the hub nuts came off, do i need a new hub or can i reinstall it, please let me know, its bothering the fudge out of me, because i want to start working on it asap, it probably came off during shipping, so its not the person who sold it to me, it was the goddam monkeys at UPS.

you are talking about the wheel studs they press into the hub. no need to get a new hub. just press it back in, or take the hub off the spindle and smack the stud from the backside into the hub until its fully seated, then put the hub back on.

you pop the cap off the middle of the hub and remove the ONE nut and the hub slides off the spindle. this is of coarse after the brake caliper bracket is off. you can leave the rotor if you cant get the assembly screws out.

When removing the Spindle Nut, I **STRONGLY** reccommend unstaking it first. Many people simply use an impact wrench to remove it, and they end up damaging the threading. In fact, most people resort to using an impact wrench *BECAUSE* they don't unstake it first...

Lastly, pics of your broken part always help. We don't always use the same vocabulary, and pics help clarify what we're talking about. Best of luck!

i agree that its best to unstake the nut to ease in removal but i have never seen thread damage due to not unstaking it on a honda, thats not to say its not possible, i just havent seen it done, and i do this for a living, including the 14 hondas i have owned.

but yeah, it will definately make it ALOT easier to remove the nut.

I apologize for making it seem more common of a problem that it is... The end of the raised shoulder of the Hub Nut is high enough to clear the threaded portion of the Spindle.

But I had a set of TAs where the Hub Nut was staked too hard, and the raised shoulder cracked. The "flaps" ended up scoring the Spindle Shaft and the last Thread and made it nearly impossible to put a new one on. I guess it's a good thing it doesn't happen that often.

Thanks for the clarification!
