Default HT In need of serious help!

So i recently bought a civic 96 coupe dx. All hell has broken loose, the motor mount broke and i guess a piece of it went into the timing belt and chewed it up. So i went to get it repaired but guess what? it went into the engine as well so now i need a new engine. On to the question would it be better to buy a new car 2k-3k or buy a new engine 2k? and if the engine what would be the easiest most hp and cheapest to install?

what engines could legally be put in in CA? h22a?

man, those motor only go for around 5-600 dollars on craigslists, that's if you don't mind doing what I do, which is drive around even a couple hours away to get the parts I need. After that, just do the swap yourself.
