Default How would I identify........

i was given what i was told a d16z6 OR y7 (whatever that is, if someone could clear up what it is) head, it has a vtec solenoid attached to it, i would love to know if there are markings on it, or serial numbers i could post up or a way to make sure what it is.

Also i was given a transmission that i was told was out of a 96-00 EX coupe, so also, want to know how to identify that via same way , serial numbers or markings.

Also , if it is a z6 head, or y8/7 head, what would i need to do to put that head on my d15b8...

And what would i need to do, to put that tranny up to my d15b8, do i need the shift linkage that came with that tranny? or can i use mine and its a straight drop in, do i need the clutch setup? or can i use my clutch and flywheel.

Lastly, do i need to change anything around for that tranny, anything at all?

Answer those in that order please!

Thanks!

- Paul

d16z6 head codes (front of head):
92 Si D16Z6 5sp P08-2
93 Si D16Z6 5sp P08-4
93 EX D16Z6 5spd P08-4
93 EX D16Z6 5sp P08-3
94 EX D16z6 5 spd P08-2
94 Si D16z6 5sp P08-3
94 EX D16Z6 5sp P08-4
94 SI D16z6 5sp P08-5
95 EX D16Z6 Auto P08-2

Edit (found my y7 info):
If I recall correctly all d16y7 heads start with Y2F-HA-xx.

If it is out of a 96-00 ex, the tag on the front should say something like "s40-xxxxxx".

Everything should bolt up and work just fine, if I have given any incorrect information, please feel free to correct me.

The trans should have a stamp on it. Check again.

i did, and found where they are supposed to be, it says YSK1, which i think is a prelude trans, since the parts came from inside a friends 91 prelude parts car, he uses it for storage haha.... there is no stamp near the drain plug exept for YSK in a circle , and a 1 near it. wonder what that means
