How would a h22 engine be in a civic
I have been researching what swap i should get when I have enough money. I have a 95 civic ex (yea i know kinda chubby). Well the h22 looks like a good choice but i was wondering how hard it is to steer with one of these, is the control absolotely horrible or is it just not the greatest. I don't want to be wrecking mym car due to horrible contorl. If anyone has a civic with an h22, or know what the outcome would be then post! Also could I keep powersteering and a/c. I can get an h22 installed for ~2800. Thanks all,

You obviously have not done too much research on it, because a search here on H-T in the recent topics and the archived topics when you type in "H22A" yielded well over 5 pages of good info.
Try that, because the opinions are different for different people.
What you consider to be good handling might not be what another guy thinks is good handling.

Fiosrt thing, there is no way that you will be keeping power steering or a/c. The H22 in an Ex pulls hard as you know, can't give you any definite times yet because haven't gone to the track yet. Most likely next week, still gotta break in the motor. The swap isn't that hard, got it done in 1 day. Suspension wise, all I have are Skunk 2 coilovers and stock everything else and it is fine. I would suggest getting 4 wheel disc brakes because you would like to stop a bit better considering the huge motor you have in the car.

From experience on a friends car, the axles will be wearing out too quickly so invest in some heavy duty ones and you'll have a good drag car, but don't attempt to go autocrossing or even hard steering during daily driving cause the weight completey handicaps the cars handling. if you choose so then good luck.

the ac thing is not true.......hcp makes an ac bracket for an h22 into an eg...they sell it in a kit with there mounts...go visit jdmshit.com ...also my car handles great...i am very happy with the way it drives, rides, and steers etc.....dont believe all the myths people....

First of all you suggested 4-wheel discs for better stopping. 4-wheel discs alone won't help you stop any better. The first thing to do would be BIGGER brakes up front like 1994-up GS-R set-up with a bigger/better master cylinder.
Rear discs alone won't really help much by themselves, sorry.
As far as Skunk2 coil-overs go, again that simply won't fix the suspension deal with the H22A.
Again though it could be more of a matter of opinon. See, I think Skunk2 coil-overs on stock struts will ride and handle like <FONT COLOR="brown">****</FONT> even with a stock lightweight D-Series motor. this is because Skunk2 springrates are too stiff for stock worn-out honda struts.
If i were doing an H22A I'd get some really stiff springs (stiffer than the fronts for sure) in the rear and a big swaybar and stiffer springs up front to support the add'l weight. With stiffer springs you'll need very heavy duty struts the likes of re-valved Konis, or some other racey type struts that can be custom-valved to control good, stiff rates.
That's just me though.

from what i hear the h22 is not as heavy as everyone says it is...its like 85 lbs more than a b series motor...and you could get some of that weight off by doin some weight reduction in the front...like relocating the battery and other things...if you are really picky about weight then you would only drive on about 2 gallons a gas everywhere you go...casue gas weights hella lot...i mean go for h22 all the way...most power for your money...thats in MY opinion

The weight thing is not such an issue as the angle the engine sits on..It sits a tilted toward the front of the car, over the front axle. Thats where the suspension bit comes into place but from what ive seen it isnt an overwhelming problem. Good dampers and springs are a must though.
