Default del Sol rear sway bar

I have a del Sol S that im doing a motor swap on and im doing my research as suspension will be next on my list. Ive heard that people run rear sway bars on del sols but ive heard from other people that they arent supported and i need to do a swap. can anyone shed some light on the correct answer? just looking to tighten things up a bit more aside from the struts/springs.

also ive heard that a rear sway bar is damaging to the subframe is this true? ive also seen that they make brackets that are suppose to counter the damage.

Just looking to get an idea from what other sol (past and present) owners are/were using

since your car didnt come with a factory rear bar, it doesnt have provisions to mount one. you can easily add a bar by using rear lcas from a del sol vtec or civic ex, or by using aftermarket lcas.

then you would want to make sure you get all brackets, busing, endlinks from an oem setup or those things should come new with an aftermarket setup.

you should not have to work about subframe damage unless you are using extremely thick bars (22mm ITR or larger). they do make reinforcement kits to protect against this as well.

oddly enough i was just on ebay looking at an ST rear sway bar. I think I may be doing a subframe brace because im not really finding anything under 22mm. might just not be looking in the right place

A lot of people say that you should run subframe reinforcement if you're using anything bigger than about a 16mm rear sway. The ASR kit is well thought of.

IMO best bang for the buck swaybar is the 22mm USDM ITR bar. You can get one brand new from acuraoemparts.com for about $75. You will need new control arms if yours don't currently have points to mount endlinks.

So in that case, you have a few options. You can try to junkyard control arms from a car with endlink mounts, or you can buy new. If you get EG/Integra style LCAs, you'll have to run EG/Integra style endlinks. Or, you can go aftermarket, with like function 7s, or something else.

I'm currently pieceing together a kit for my EK, which already has endlink mounts, but can't use the EG style endlinks. Yours will be a little different, but here's what I bought so far:
ASR subframe brace: 179 from jhpusa
Blox non-adjustable EK style endlinks: $30 from jhpusa
22mm ITR sway: $75 from Acura
bushings: like $15 from Acura
energy suspension universal 22mm D-brackets: $22 from summitracing

Total for everything came to about $340 shipped, which is about $60 less than the ASR kit that comes with everything... which is fine, because I didn't want the ASR 24mm rear sway - I think it's overkill for a street car.

I currently haven't gotten my stuff yet, so I'm not 100% sure that it'll all work together, but I think I've got everything I need.

keep me posted with how things go, and thanks for the info. I originally thought this was going to be much more expensive than it is...as you said i dont need this crazy setup as a majority of the cars time will be spent on the street
