What car do u have?
a PR3 92-95 SIR II works better for better price

8700 rpm instead of a GSR 8200

I have it!

If you're revving to 8700rpm I assume you have an upgraded valvetrain... Springs and retainers, and whatnot?

It shouldn't have any probs except for running probably a lil rich. I don't remember all the years and designations of b16's...so if it's an OBD1 motor, than the P72 might throw a CEL since it's OBD2. If the motor's OBD2, then there shouldn't be any major probs. Not a perfect, but nothing major.

I am using a 1996 P72 on my b16a2.....it runs pretty well, but the VTEC engagement point of 4,400 is DEFINITILY too low for the b16....you will bog from when VTEC engages to around 5,500....when the VTEC lobes on the b16 were designed to make power. This sucks cuz when you are downshifting from 5th to third you usually land smack in that rpm zone. The ECU will be fine for awhile, but you will want to get something right soon.

If you want a 99 Si ECU I got one, and will sell it to ya relativly cheap.

Let me know.

GSR ecu will the car run bad.
4500 vtec engagement is too soon and gives you WAY too much fuel.
A buddy of mine used this for his 99 SIR JDM swap... it blew black smoke and got horrible mileage ..all while bieng slower than it should have been.
Just get a del sol vtec, itr or si/sir ecu.
You will need a odb1 to odb2 harness tho.
Please just get the b16a ecu...you'll thank me.

its a 98 civic hx with a 99 si b16a2 motor and i'm running it with a 99 gsr p72 ecu.
it seems to work..
it think it might be running a little rich tho. the vtec kicks in a 5.5 or so .. not the reported 4.4.

Almost the same as my setup, Me: 97 Hx with b16a2 motor, 96 P72 ECU. How did you get it to work with the 99 GSR ECU? What wiring harness did you use? It is almost impossible to use the Si harness in a 96-98 Hx...or any civic of those years.

Oh, by the way....VTEC with the 99 p72 is around 4,400 rpms...just listen to the engine....it gets louder right at that point. You feel quite a power kick at 5,500...because that is where the cam profiles on the b16a2 were designed to make power.

Hmm...that is strange....the 99 Civic Si, and 99 GSR both use OBD2 ver2.....it seems to me that if you have the harness wired for a 99 p72 you should also be able to use the 99 Si ECU.....hmmmm.....

My milage has been in the range of 28 to an astounding 35mpg! I have probably been averaging 30mpg.

And by the way, I am getting a code 1...which means no primary O2 sensor, so if I 'm not wrong, I am just running off factory fuel maps! I should be getting shitty mileage.
