how are vtec and non vtec dizzys different?
im taking apart an obd1 ls and obd1 b16 disributors right now. so far they are the exact same. the numbers on the coil and icm are the same and everything else looks the same so what is the difference?
|
I don't think there is. I'm using a vtec (d16y8) dizzy on my nonvtec (d15b2) engine, no problem.

i thought the way they bolted to the head was a little different?

hmmmm well my b16 dizzy looks the exact same as the LS right now. same bolt pattern. anyone else?
|
OBD1 vtec and non vtec d series dizzies have different bolt patterns, yes. Z1/Z6 is the same and B7/B8 is the same, but those two groups are different from each other.

Re: (SVOboy)
what about b series?
|
I'm not sure about bolt pattern, but I don't see why a vtec and nonvtec b series dizzy would function differently if the d series doesn't.

Re: (SVOboy)
damit so i could have just thrown my b16 dizzy on the ls?
|
I'm not sure, but that's basically what I did with my car except in d series terms.
