Default how to turn on ecu?

i have a built obd2 d16y8 in a 89 hatch and using all the obd2 wiring harness and automatic ecu. i can turn on the starter and fuel pump but there should be a way to turn on the ecu as well before the car will start correct? well what do i need to do to jump the ecu so it turns on? this will be a track car only so thats why im not to worried about wiring up the dash or anything like that. any help would be greatly apreciated.

if the ECU is plugged in teh harness, and the key is on access atleast, the ECU should be "on"

there is no key, there is just an engine harness and ecu and fuel pump. the wiring harness is not hooked up to ANY dash components. there is about to be no dash at all except for a few toggle switches and a push botton start. its a TRACK ONLY car.

look for the wires that go to the ignition. when you turn the key to the acc position, that's when the ecu gets power (you can see your cel come on for a sec while the ecu runs a self-check). Find some way to trick the ecu into thinking there is a key in the ignition and you are good to go.

thanks for the help. BUT. the ignition is an 88 civic dx, and the ecu is a 98 civic ex. the wires will be different colors and different positions on the ecu cuz they are different ecu's right?

yeah, obd0 to obd2 is a big change. I wish i could help you more than that, but honestly i can't. you need to get pinouts for the obd0 and obd2, then one by one change/add wires. it'll be a pita.

i would do that, but im not keeping any of the origonal dash or anything. i want my dash to consist of a few toggles (fuel pump relay, ecu relay) then a push botton start. maybe if i could find a how to on a push botton start i could find the right wires.... anybody else have any ideas? i know somebody has done this before.

then just find the obd2 pinout and run the wires directly for the parts you are going to use. same idea, it just won't take as long.

ok ive found a pin out but it just says a 3 letter abreviation of what each wire is. i need to know which one turns the ecu to "ON" so i can start the car, the whole harness is hooked up to the motor like its suposed to be other than that.

here is what im looking at right now. can u identify what i need to put power to to get the ecu to turn on?
