how to tune an lsvtec tuned?
whats up my friend has an lsvtec that i might be trading for and i was wondering how i would go about tuning it. I have heard alot about hondata but i dont really know the specifics on what all it does and how it is used. i have searched but nothing has came up that specific. right now he has a chipped p28 with mugen program running in it. if you guys could help me out with the details and cost approximates would be good. i dont think this is needed but the the lsvtec consists of the ls block with z10 main girdle, b16 head with ctr cams, itr vavletrain, jdm r pistons, shot peened rods, blueprinted and balanced, aebs head studs, and a bunch of other stuff but you get the idea. thanks for any help.

Re: how to tune an lsvtec tuned? (1 point 6)
well i have aem cam gears, but i dont really know what i am looking for in my tuning that would stand out as good. i guess when i run it on the dyno i will adjust the air fuel ratio to max out horsepower and torque. does anyone have any estimates on air-fuel ratio?

yeah bro get a hondata s200 unit I believe it is and some adjustable cam gears also a fuel rail that would be good enough for you to tune your car right

your a/f should be 12.0. I do not understand what you are asking your question is very all over the place. Hondata will let you tune your a/f and timing. What are you looking to achive with this car? I would do some street tuning before I went and through the car on a dyno. Dyno will be for full throtle tuning. But street tuning is what takes the longest b/c you will be tuning the different cells for rpm vs load.

What is your definition of tuning?
Hondata is a tuned ECU, there is no tuning involved you just plug and play.
VAFC requires tuning, and inputing numbers.
Cam Gears and a FPR is manual tuning.
What are you trying to do? Squeeze every little bit of HP out of it?
Make it run nicely?
Do some minor tuning to get as much HP as you can?
Your current question is to vague, its like asking what part of the world does the sky cover.

actually hondata is not a tuned ecu. You must tune it. Hondata bascially lets you hack your stock ecu. IE tune a/f and timing and some other parts. I do not see why you would run a hondata and vafc. I agree with 1 point 6 that you really make no sence in what you are saying. You keep saying you want to tune it but what do you want to tune so much? Do you just want to tune up the engine like buy some new plugs and a fuel filter. What is your perspective of tunning? It sounds like someone said you need to tune your car to make power but I don't think you have any idea what tuning is or what the purpose of it is.

Re: how to tune an lsvtec tuned? (underpressure02)
ok, here it is, i would like to tune my car so that i can get the maximum horsepower out of it for everyday driving! when i say tune i mean getting the most out of the engine. the problem is, however, that at this point i do not know what is needed to modify the a/f ratio or tune the ecu to map it to my system. hopefully that helps convey the subjectmatter in which i am trying to address. thanks again

personally if you want to get the most hp out of your car go turbo. Tuning on an NA motor vs a turbo is like apples to oranges. You will be able to get some more power of of your car with hondata on an NA engine but you will get some huge gains with a turbo. For example. When I had mase come up and street tune my turbo setup we put it on the dyno for a baseline run after he was done street tuning and I was at 220. After a few dyno pulls we had increased that number to 306. Now on an NA motor you will not get those types of gains.
I guess you should first start with how much power are you looking to make? Then go from there. Just don't think by throwing in some cam gears, fpr and a hondata you will get 100 hp.

Re: how to tune an lsvtec tuned? (underpressure02)
in now way throughout this thread did i say that i was looking for gains of anywhere near 100hp. i am merely looking to gain 15-20hp by running the correct a/f ratio and fuel pressure as well as adjusting my timing and vtec. Once again i was wondering if someone could explain exactly what hondata is and what it would replace and how to work with it. thanks

i think I said it in each one of my threads you just seem to miss it each time. So we will try this
HONDA HACKS YOUR STOCK ECU AND LETS YOU CHANGE PARAMETERS SUCH AS A/F AND TIMING. THERE IS NOTHING TO INSTALL YOU JUST HAVE TO PREP YOUR ECU OR BUY A HONDATA PREPED ECU AND THE HONDATA BLUE BOX. THEN UNPLUG YOUR STOCK ECU AND PLUG THIS IN. GO TO HONDATAS WEBSITE. THEY GIVE PLENTY OF INFO ABOUT THIER ECU'S THERE.

from my understanding hondata also has a chip which lets say in my case i will be placing in a p28 and then sending it to get tuned by the pros, a/f and timing and everything else said so far in the thread.........

Re: how to tune an lsvtec tuned? (CivicTypeR00)
I was able to tune mine just fine using a VAFC and FPR. Here are the results where you can see the nice A/F line:
If you have the money though, Hondata is another great option.

I tuned mine with my E-Manage and my wideband 02. I run 14.7 afr at idle and Im at right around 12.5-13.0 all the way up through the RPM band at WOT.
