all usdm b18c5's and 96-97 jdm itr b18c's had cast iron two piece 4-2-1's much like the regular stock manifolds found on base model tegs. they do flow a little better though but it's hard to tell the difference just by looking at them.
the 98+ jdm itr b18c's had the stainless tubular 4-1 that everyone wants.

If you're still unsure, post a photo.
However, if it is indeed the JDM header, I wouldn't trade it for the Comptech.

Re: How to tell the difference between a JDM and USDM ITR header! (Padawan)
Here is a picture of my header. Is it the real JDM ITR header? It was on the car when I bought it, so that's why I'm unsure.
As for trading.. My header has some small dents/scratches on the bottom of it. That is the main reason I wanted to trade for the comptech, which he says is mint.
Here is a picture of my damage, do you think it's restricting any flow? It doesnt look like anything major to me.
So if you were in my shoes, would you trade my ITR header for the Comptech?
How much does each go for? Which would perform better? Also take the damage to my header into consideration in the trade.
Thanks guys, I'll appreciate all opinions.

So it's better than the comptech? Why?
Also the damage that's already on it. Can it make a dif in performance at all? Is there any way to get it fixed?
Where can I buy a skidplate?

unless the comptech you're wanting to trade for is the race version, the itr will perform better because of it's design and 2.5'' collector.
you can get a skidplate from http://www.fastlineperformance.com
those dents dont look that bad. my dc 4-2-1 is banged up to hell worse than that yet i cant tell any difference.

Okay, so don't trade unless it's the race version. I will ask the guy that now.
As for the skidplate.. Say I go over a speedbump. Something has to give. Will the skidplate bend, or will it push the whole header up/lift the engine? It's hard to explain, but I'm sure you understand what I mean. What would happen in this situation?
Also do you know of any other place I can get a skidplate thats cheaper? $70 bucks seems kinda expensive. Also does it just bolt right on, or do you have to weld/fab on brackets?

if you hit a bump hard enough to lift the entire engine a skidplate wouldnt help either way. how dumped are you? try raising your car.
the skidplate is $59 on that site. where are you seeing $70? it bolts right up to the brackets the lower heatshield would.

My car is not too low. It was lower when I got it, but I recently raised the front end up 1/2 inch. Right now The front lip is about 4.5 inches off the ground.
It's $59 but I figured with shipping it would be around $70, or is there free shipping?

I'd probably prefer to have the Comptech header (even the standard version) and pair it with a high-flow cat. For a mild setup, the OEM ITR's larger collector won't be that much of an advantage, especially since it has an inner "anti-reversion" piece that reduces the effective diameter, and it uses a formed collector and less than ideal construction (e.g., the flange welds on the inside of the primaries). Plus, as you've noted, your header is already slightly damaged, and the Comptech's 4-2-1 construction will offer greater ground clearance.

Re: How to tell the difference between a JDM and USDM ITR header! (Padawan)
Okay guys I find out that it is the Comptech "street" header, not the "race" header.
I need some more opinions. One guy said keep the ITR, the other said trade for the Comptech.
What would you guys do?
Thanks.

if all N/A, I say keep the ITR.
If thinking about doing anything else, (e.g. heavy boltons, n2o, supercharger, etc) get the comptech.
