HOW TO TELL THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A B16 AND A B18C5 HEAD
how do you tell the difference between a b16 head and a itr head.and also how much do they run money wise and is there much a difference all i know is that the itr head has a mild port but only on the intake side is this correct,is it worth the extra money for a itr or should i just get a b16 head.

the first thing to look for is the casting code, a b16 head is a p30, a b18c head is a p72, and i don't know about the itr head off hand, i could be wrong there though, also b18c1 heads have quench areas on either side of the combustion chamber, the b16 and itr heads do not. in my opinion, the itr head is a waste of money, the b16 head is very simular, and a lot cheaper

Side by side, the ITR head will have larger intake and exhaust ports. You will also notice a slight port and polish... but very mild. The B16 will be smaller ports and slightly rougher. There is also talk about having green paint on the back of ITR heads, but that I have never noticed.

im pretty sure the itr head will be stamped p75. imo the itr head is a waste of money. if you dont want to use a gsr head i would just get a b16 and build the **** out of it

the reason why i dont want a gsr head is that the b16 head flows better and since that the b16 and itr heads are almost similiar except that the itr head has a mild p&p so i'll probably go with this if i can find one.
Does anyone know how much a itr head runs price wise.

The ITR head will Be a PR-3 head. Most people say look at the casting date but they still made b16 heads in some of those years as well.
Look for a green mark right behind the distributor.
Dual valvesprings.
dont look for porting its MINOR porting.
also the intake manifold if it is connected would help as well.
lets not forget the cams neither.

$950-$1500+ depending on condition. I'd like to and itr head to put on my C5 block but to expensive. Just gonna p&p my si head. Either way if you got the money for the itr head buy it. Yea the SI is very close but not exact either way you choose you are buying a nice head. good luck

dude where do you get that information from? B16A, B16B, and B18C5, and JDM B18C-R heads are all PR3 heads(show me a photograph proving otherwise) . The B16B, and B18C5, JDM B18-R head have the Bowl area just behind the intake vales machined.
the GSR/Sir-G Head have a squared off cumbustion chamber on both sides of the valves.

WRONG.
side by side - identical. the only differance is the polish near the valve seats.
port sizes are the SAME
no such thing as green paint.
