B16a2 is just a2, not SiR.

SiR is B16a.

a2 is considered better anyway.

A B16A2 from a 96-97 Del sol VTEC, 99-00 USDM Civic Si, and CDM SiR is the exact same engine performance-wise.

BTW before some lamer tells me:

"The Del Sol VTEC was a B16A3 dumbass!"

The B16A3 was in the 94-95 Del Sol VTEC and was OBD1, whilse the 96-97 Del Sol VTEC was the B16A2, OBD2.

what i find weird is that the B16A3 came before the B16A2... what's up with that? (as long as what i've heard is true... the 5th digit meaning the version)

SiR = same as JDM B16A 170hp compression 10.4

USDM SI = b16a2 160hp compression 10.2

ALL B16A engines released in north america were 160hp...period!

In Japan, the 2nd gen B16A got an extra 10hp simply from .2 higher compression at 10.4:1 with the P30 pistons used in them.

Did it really need an explanation?

Here's the explanation:
He doesn't know what the hell he is talking about.

every1 here is just makin this so confusin..
READ THE THE QUESTION BEFORE YOU START POSTIN!!!

AGAIN...

1999-2000 Honda Civic USDM Si (EM1) HAS A B16A2
1999-2000 Honda Civic CAN SIR EJ HAS A B16A2

SAME IDENTICAL ENGINE
SAME IDENTICAL CAR!!!!

And to every1 here....NO not all b16 engines are the same
they come with different im,different ecus, different camsh,
The newer the engine year, the better the cam profile,
89-91 B16A cam lobe profiles are the weakest of the bunch.
and finally pistons...
There are 2 types of B16A pistons in the world. JDM and US. All US B16A engines are equipped with the PR3 B16A piston. Which yeilds a 10.2 compression ratio. All JDM B16A's are equipped with the P30 B16A piston which yeilds a 10.4 compression ratio. That's .2 more points over the US piston.

DO SOME RESEARCH YO ALL...

dude that's like saying

b18c1 > b18c jdm engines will always be better than any usdm engine period learn your facts before you open your mouth, i have personally owned d15b and d16z6 and the d15 is better
b16a2 and currently running a b16a in my hatch and b16a is way better
never had a usdm gsr, but i did have a b18c in my hatch and was whopping on usdm gsr and ls/vtec hatches out there so JDM > USDM.

You tell the difference on the block. If its Sir II then it will Say B16A and if its A2 then it will say B16A2. And whoever says the USDM version is better your dumb.

I'm going to buy every single B16 left in existence and melt them so stupid threads like this don't come up anymore.
