How to Take the TPS voltage reading????
Hey GUys,
I know I need to use a multimeter and that I want to isolate the middle wire and check the voltage, but I don't know how. Obviously when the connector is plugged into the harness (on the sensor) you cannot get a wire in there so u can get a reading.
I don't have a clue on how to get a reading. People say "probe" the wire, but you cannot take your multimeter and get a reading through the wires' insulation.
I have to be over looking something really dumb. Anyone give me a little help.
P.S. This is for an STR throttle body, I'm trying to calibrate the sensors position - I already the the volt ranges at WOT and Idle.

Re: How to Take the TPS voltage reading???? (func-tion)
what i did was use the needle from the multimeter and just insert it where the wires are going in on the clip. the clip may stretch a bit

Re: How to Take the TPS voltage reading???? (DOHCtorTHRUST)
take a needle (i.e. sewing needle, pins, etc... something metal, thin and has a pointed in.) take the needle/pin and "back probe" the wires going to the tps.
basically insert the pin into the rubber grommets (if the harness has grommets) right where the wires are inserted into the harness. that way, u won't pierce the wire's insulation, and the needle acts as just an extension of the multimeter leads.
