ok heres the deal. I'm preping my motor for the swap this weekend and am replaceing timeing belt, water pump and tensioner.
I need to also take off the plastic cover but the crank pully is in the way.

The motor is out of car on the floor.

Is there a TRICK to taking it off. (i could try putting it in between the legs of the engine hoost to hold it in place.

Is there a special tool to use?

Take off the starter, wedge a screwdriver in between the flywheel and case, then use an impact gun or a big ******* breaker bar.

remember only 1 person.

also tranny is off already too. i just replaced my clutch

Then use a fuggin impact gun. It doesn't take 10 squirrels to remove a crank bolt.

hah sorry no impact gun...

i swore i saw this weird round disk tool that you can use to take it off.
one side you use it as leverage the other end you just pull down on it... hum

yea man there is a special tool that you can buy from I think snap-on or mac not real sure. My buddy has one and the tool isnt cheap its like 90 bucks but it really does work.

There is a tool that Moroso makes and sells in the Summit catalog. It holds the inner crank and has a hole in the middle to insert the 19mm socket onto the bolt. The tool is about $75 shipped. It worked great when I changed a timing belt by myself. Another ghetto low cost way is to go to Home Depot and get a pair of Big Azz channel lock pliers, put a rag over the crank, and squeeze with the Big Azz and remove the bolt!

I admit, not without an impact gun. But plently of people I know use a huge breaker bar and it works. But as far as the motor being outside without a tranny, kinda hard.

pull your tranny off..since its out of the car, and wedge something in the flywheel (that wont break either your motor or damage the flywheel) and use like a 3 foot breaker bar on a half inch socket with the (i think its a 19mm) socket, its gonna take somebody holdin the motor at the same time as you are yankin on the breaker bar..but good luck
