It would be smarter to buy from a company, if there are problems with the motor, there is usuall some form of warranty on the motor. Buying from private sellers you never know what you are going to get. . . just my .02$

is there anyway that i can perform a compression test if the engine is just sitting around and not in the car? i read couple of articles and they both did the test while the engines were still in teh car

well if u want to do a compression test out of the car.... just hook the starter up to the battery with a switch on the starter solinoid... and a ground wire from the tranny to the battery... and do the compression test as normal...wide open throttle ... crank the motor until the guage stops moving... like 5 rotations
