How To Remove Heater Box From 99-00 Civic?
How do I remove it? Also, when I removed the dash, there is this metal bar...Is this part of the car? Can it be removed? My number one concern is removing the heater box though. I need to find out by tomorrow. Thanks.

The metal bar is not an integral part of the car. It can be removed. I believe it is just a support for the dash and console.
Are you stripping this car completely? It's easy to get stuff out, but if you have the intention of putting it all back in, be careful!

Well, I'm converting my 96 climate control to the 99-00 SI. I basically have everything. I looked at the bar and it looks likes the bar is welded. I'll double check.
Anyone know how to take the heater box out?

I guess I should be more specific. In my buddy's 94 GSR, the bar bolted in. That is all I can be 100% sure about.
The heater core must be disconnected from the coolant system (ie disconnect the hoses under the hood). I believe there are 2-3 screws holding the actual core in place. If you have the dash out it should be relatively obvious how it is held in place. If not, I would suggest investing in a helms manual.

that bar is part of the dashboard. you should've taken the whole dashboard out, not just the cover. it's welded to the sides of the dashboard, take the whole thing out, and taking out the heater should be pretty easy after that.

The bar is not part of the dash. It is what supports the steering column. There are 2 bolts on the passenger side that need to come out. There are 2 or 3 bolts on the driver side that have to come out and you have to disconnect the steering column from the bar. I was stupid, when I put my roll cage in I had left the heater box in. Now that I am wanting to take the heater box out it wont come out easy because the cage is in the way of being able to take this bar out. Im the crazy one. The car is going to be a SCCA roadrace car. There is nothing in the car but a cage, seat and steering wheel right now. I still have to put the dash back in somehow. I was going to build a aluminum one and then I found out that I have to have the original dash in the car. My car is a 99EK.
