Hey guys, before you say "SEARCH" I have. I have searched for "Clock Removal, removing clock, EG clock remove" but notting. When I searched under "Clock" I found most of the threads telling me to check my backup fuse.

I'm having the issue with the time staying at 1:00 so I will check my backup fuse BUT I wanted to pull out my clock and check the wires.

Do I just pry it from the dash or do I have to take the whole dash appart to get the clock off????

As far as my memory goes back.. I do think that you have to take the whole dash apart.. under the "Danger" button there is a little screw that holds the dash.. and 2 above the steering wheele.. Be carefull.. it's easy to break.. and make sure it's not to cold, then it' will break easier.

First, take these two screws out:


Then, pop your hazard switch out:


Make sure you pull this plug out:


There is a screw behind there:


Then, gently pry away at the trim piece, there are about six or seven clips holding it in. Pull on it until it comes out, don’t worry if you break any of the clips, all of mine are gone Make sure you don’t forget the plug behind the clock:


Then unscrew the clock from the black trim piece.

Seems like BauleyCivic is gonna rip apart his car everytime someone needs a "how to install". This is the second I've seen in two days.

LOL lets not go that far. All these pictures are from my amber dash writeup...for that you haveta apart the console and the dash...so that whole writeup answers many more questions than just coloring the dashboard lights

Followed Bauley civics diy and took it appart and I had to fix one thing with the wires and it's all good now.

Also, if the clock says 1:00 on it, it IS the 7.5 backup fuse

i got a simular question.. if you dont have a clock, do you just pry? and is the wiring still there?

Same removal instructions with or without clock.

Yes the plug is still there if you choose to get a clock at any time. Plug and play, just like a gauge cluster.

Don't pull on the black plastic cover too hard. It snaps easy and cost $100+ new from Honda. Got lucky and found mine on Ebay for $50/shipped.

I just put a new 7.5 fuse in there and it works perfectly now

Hey guy i have the answer to your question. I had the same probably when i put in my JDM amber clock. The time always reseted to 1:00 everytime i turned off the car.
I actually solved the problem quite by accident. One of your fuses is blown in you engine bay. It's in the main fuse box. I believe its a 7.5 amp fuse. Just find that one that is blown and replace it.
You clock will now save the time. I think that is the memory fuse for the clock. So once that's over with there is no need for you to even take out the clock mang. That would just be a waste of your time.

anyone noticed that if you poke the flap on the clock covering the buttons it turns on when the cars off? just wondering if i'm the only person who didn't for the last year...nice write up bauley..i think jdm ones don't have screws as mine doesn't..

The same thing happens to me...think that's just how it works guy. I know some guys that like to keep the clock on at all times so they found a way to always have the button press on...

figured i'd just add to this thread instead of making a new one, especially since this one's in the FAQ...
my clock stays on, but dim, when the car is on AND off. could this cause a significant load on the battery? if i don't drive my car for 2-3 days, it wont have enough juice to turn over at all. not sure of what other things may be draining it...

i haven't changed the backup fuse yet (it keeps resetting to 1:00 too), but i doubt that a blown fuse would supply power to the clock w/the car off.
ideas?

I took off the hazard cover but I'm having trouble popping/taking out the plug. Any tricks?

Wow I remember my first time doing this to paint by bezel. I think I used a screw driver to push the plug clip. That plug wire is short? It's just been so long since I last took that thing off, and ive taken it off over 6 times... jeez..
