How to remove 1995 civic front bulkhead parts.
I have a civic in the process of restoring. Funds is a little short so im planning on removing the part that I need from the donor car myself so the shop wont charge me for removing it. I cant really explain it that well so I will be attaching a pic I found online. THIS IS NOT MY PICTURE. I FOUND IT WHEN I GOOGLED ENGINE BAY FOR 1995 CIVIC. I found this pic on a site called civic-eg.com and the members name is teal_dx. I hope you wont mind of me borrowing your pic. If in any way youre offended feel free to chime in and ill remove the pic. Heres the pic and i made a red outline on the part that I need. This thread is also in the body and paint section.
As you can see it goes along the firewall. Is it all held by spot welds and that glue looking sealer? I found a thread here on time but I cant locate it any longer. Help would be greatly
appreciated. thanks.

I'm trying to figure out exactly what you're talking about but I can't. Be more specific and maybe we can help. If its just spot welds than remove the sealer with a wire wheel and get the whole area to bare metal or primer and drill the spot welds out and pull it off with both vehicles. Then weld it on and seal it up. I've done RHD conversions so I know all about drilling out spot welds haha. A few is ok but a whole firewall blows

I need the whole driver side. Idk if you would call it an inner fender
but i think a core would be closer. Where i drew a red line is where
it needs to be cut but i dont need the firewall part. Lastly if it was that
easy to find a shell of your choice on this small island i would've
done it no questions asked. This island is so small cars are
limited. You can drive around the island in 4 hours at 35 mph so please
dont tell me to fnd another shell because its pretty much hopeless.

Didn't realize that.
Check this diagram. It might be helpful.

The part you are talking about is the upper frame rail area. From what you circle it looks like you are trying to get the apron also. Some one provided a parts picture,14- is the apron,15- is the upper frame rail outer,16- is the strut tower/ with inner frame rail. Do you need all these parts and how bad is the damage?

Re: How to remove 1995 civic front bulkhead parts.
Somehow I dont see a picture but heres a picture of the damage.
If you look at the driver side theres another red circle of the damage itself. I might need the whole thing from where it connects to the firewall and to where it connects to the rad support. I will be also changing the radiator support but they it here on island so its the less of my worries. I just need to know if these parts are welded or just spot welds so I can drill the spot welds out one by one. Thanks for the help.

Ok that's the front structure area. The pic I was telling you is from Honda automotive parts.com go to front structure diagram, another Honda tech member provided the pic and web site.

Yeah thats the one. Can the whole thing be removed with no special tools? Is it just spot welded together or the whole thing is welded from the firewall?

Welded from the firewall. We've been over this before, and I remember that same picture. You need to replace the front clip to replace that damage.

Re: How to remove 1995 civic front bulkhead parts.
I know and now I have an extra shell thats why im asking how to remove it because itll save me some money if I try to remove the part myself and hand over the car to the shop with the whole driver side and ask them to replace it. IM trying to remove it from the extra shell so I can hand the car over to the shop and ask them to replace it.

Wow that isnt going to be easy for the layman... Also you could of told us off the bat that you live on an island.
Had we known that the find another shell comment would of been shelved.
I know about these lsland places that dont have wrecking yards every 50 feet,
like we do in the mainland.
I have friends who live in New Zealand and they tend to really really try and put some ungodly wrecked cars back together.

Depending on the condition of the shell, you might be better off swapping your drivetrain and suspension into the shell, rather than swapping front clips.

I'm gonna be honest (and blunt) here. You don't know where to cut. You've admitted as much. You'd be much better served dropping both shells off at the shop, and letting them do the cutting. No need to risk cutting too much, or not enough.

Re: How to remove 1995 civic front bulkhead parts.
I know where to cut I can see it. My question is . . . IS it just spot welded together or is it welded all the way from top to bottom. If its just spot welded I can drill them out and if its welded I have no choice but to bring it to a shop. Heres a thread with the perfect example of what im looking for BUT its for a different car. http://hondamarketplace.com/showthread.php?t=2969258

One of those measure twice cut once deals.
I think you'll be better served saving for one that is in better shape.
Believe me, your patience will pay off.
Find your diamond in the rough and leave the train wrecks alone.
In the long run you'll be happier.

What island? I beleave that its just spot welded and seam sealed on top clean off the seam sealer and check it out. You can do most the removal your self, but install your going to need a tram gauge and oem measurements

If you make one miss cut you dont have anything to work with.

my guess is that if I carefully look into what pieces will come out first and drill out the welds
one by one itll be okay. IN two weeks or so a body man will come by and take a look at it. He does these things for a living so my job for now is to clean up the engine bay. thanks
Thanks. Theres no way i will be putting these together. I will be taken to the shop.

Re: How to remove 1995 civic front bulkhead parts.
Ok this is not easy as you think, I'm a body tech and do this for a living so if you are going to do this it won't be easy. First you need to know how are you going to separate the pieces of but before tit attemp to do this make sure your car does not have frame damage get measurements , length, width, and height measure these first and maybe you can save yourself the trouble of getting into a big mess especially in the strut tower area, but there's away to take the whole side in one piece just gotta know where to cut.
