How to rebuild Honda B series book...
I found this book on amazon...I am awaiting the arrival of my B16 from HMO and going to be doing a good bit of work to this motor - rods/pistons/springs/retainers/etc. also will be boosting.
Does anyone have this book, or have you ever heard of it? Its only like 18 bucks. I am somewhat mechanically inclined and have a buddy that is a "mobile mechanic" and knows his stuff pretty good...but would still like to have an on hand reference.

I have the book and it is really good. It has tons of pictures and step by step guides. I use it to supplement my factory manual and haynes. The picture step by step is well worth the price.

shouldnt follow the book when ur gaping your rings if high boost ur gonna wanna widen that gap a bit because of heat. other then that u can follow the book and torque specs. if you look online enough u can find all your info online its not hard to do. i rebuilt my D series all from reading all the info and specs online.

Yea...I would just use the internet and follow write ups...but its just like an overload of info/search results...the book is more organized and it is on hand. I mean I will be doing this work pretty much in my living room...lol..but I cant drag my desktop from the back room and don't feel like walking back and fourth...and my g/f uses the laptop a lot for school. So I kind of need something by my side... but if I have any problems/questions or just 2nd opinions I will for sure be looking on the internet or asking on here. This is my first time doing something this in depth...I have done clutches/swaps/timing belt/etc. - but I should be ok...I have half a brain and a pretty good "mobile mechanic" buddy.

i have that book sitting in my backseat right now, it helps a lot, especially with giving you torque specs and a step by step instruction on what to do during the dissassembly and reassembly of a b-series engine.

I still think if you have the general idea of how to build an engine a Helms would destroy this book. You could probably find a used one for about the same price

I have a helms manual for 1992-1995 Honda Civic and for the 1994 Del Sol which covers everything about the vehicles and not just the swap...if interested.

Re: How to rebuild Honda B series book...
that was my point when i asked the question. People are saying to use the Helms over this book to rebuild a b-series...when this book gives step-by-step instructions on how to tear down and then rebuild a b-series. This book is better for what the OP needs than what a Haynes has to offer.

He didn't ask about swaps, he asked about rebuilding an engine. A helms hands down has the best information for doing that as far as published information

because he wants to swap a b16 into his EG...therefore it's a swap, which Haynes won't help him with. This book will help with the engine build/rebuild and swap info.

Just get both. I use have the haynes, factory service manuals, and the book. There are times when i go back and forth betwee all three. Sometimes the haynes is better for minor stuff.

Ok, he still wants to do a swap...don't ya think the book that tells him how to rebuild the motor AND swap would be more beneficial?
