How often does Honda want our Radiator Hoses changed?
Radiator went, so grabbed one this morning. Went to pull the radiator out just now and was looking over the hoses. They *appear* to be in tip top shape. No cracks, leaks, etc. However they are both OEM w 180k and 12 years of use.
I called up the local parts stores to get a new upper and lower hose, and they wont be in until 2 days from now...guess I wouldve had to order them by this afternoon to get them in time for tomorrow, however thursday morning they will be here.
Now, Ive been looking online and can't find an answer of how often they *should* be changed. I feel that 180k though definitely is FAR TOO LONG to not change them.
Being that I dont NEED the car tomorrow I am going to just let her sit tomorrow and do everything thursday when I have the parts. As far as I know rubber doesn't give you a warning sign to go bad, it just does. Id rather change them, then have a hose break while Im doing 75 mph on the highway.
So...whats honda reco? Also---just a friendly reminder, maybe who's ever reading this, you should change yours also.

Don't think there is one after looking at the schedules. It's just as needed. That is when the inner portion of the hose wears (feels crunchy or brittle when squeezed) or if the hose develops frays or cracks.

IMO I don't change them unless there's a leak/tear/rip/damage/etc. It's just a hose. I had 300k on mine and it was fine.

^ lol.....so you mean I shouldn't have cut that lower one off then?
Eh, like I said piece of mind is worth more to me, but good to know that there isn't a schedule

my lower is still the orginal from Honda. ~230k
upper had to be replaced becuae it broke in a accident.
IMO don't fix it if it ain't broke. But they aren't that expensive maybe $25-30 for the pair.

It won't completely burst open and send all your coolant spraying out like a water hose. All you'll notice is the overflow tank getting empty as the coolant slowly leaks out, which will probably take a long time for all the excess coolant in the overflow to be gone so you'll be fine. Duct tape the small crack in the hose till you get a new one and keep driving.

I've got almost 400,000kms on my '94 sedan, I replaced the upper hose a while back because there was a slight leak where it clamped to the water neck, but that hose still looked good inside. All other hoses are original from '94.
