how is my d16z6 fast?
well the title is my main question here tonight folks...
lets just say my d16z6 I/H/E EG Hatch beat a b16 EG coup with type r tranny, from 1-mid 3rd gear.... how is that possible? lol
i was excited... but as far as i know other then the bolt ons its souppose to be stock...
only 20k miles on rebuilt motor... i never rebuilt it myself, bought it that way.. car used to be turbo in cali, and the head blew. I am thinking they built the head with some sort of valves, springs, etc...
any idea what it takes to put in d16z6 to beat a stock b16 like that?

I think maybe that B16 was missing on a few Cylinders

the weight difference and hp difference would still put the b ahead of the d.
assuming both engines are running as they should, you simply outdrove him.
join nasa or the scca, go to a track event and see what happens. road courses or even autoX are where drivers shine.

his could be in limp mode, he got sold a tranny other than a ITR, he may have oversized tires, he could have been shifting lower and you were more in your torque band...

trust me, your car isn't that fast, and street racing sucks....big deal you found someone who doesn't know how to drive.....there are lots of "those" out there!
Hit up the track, get a 1/4 mile time and impress me with what that car "really" does

Re: how is my d16z6 fast?
just to clear this up a b16 isn't all that fast itself to begin with. even when i had my d16z6 in my eg hatch and race with a few b16, its either we're head to head or i'll get ahead by a bumper or it'll be the other way around. just because the b16 is in coupe which make it a little more heavier than mine which is in a eg hatch. by the way don't think i'm hating on the b16 guys cause now i'm riding on a em1.

Re: how is my d16z6 fast?
I had a d15z1 with only a intake and somehow beat a wrx single driver. I had a buddy and my B18 tranny in the back. The d15 I had was rated at 96 horsepower. Guy followed me to a gas station and said I pulled on him and I was like yeaaa sure.
To even out the story. My buddy had a stock 94 integra that was a automatic and pulled on me for miles easy.
Its all in the driver, he prolly has a short short short shifter and missed a gear
