Yeah them Phuckers are way expensive depending on your Honda model. If you get an aftermarket BOSCH one just make sure that it has the same wire set up, 1 wire or 4 wire one.

I got an o2 sensor at napa for 25 or 30 bucks if I recall correctly. I remember it was dirt cheap because I went up expecting to write a check and ended up paying with cash.

Bosch makes good sensors. You can save a few bones going that route, but I don't know if they make an after-cat sensor for your car.
Here's another thought for you. Honda warranties their O2 sensors for [like] 60-65,000 miles. Everything else is [like] 3yr/36k, but the sensors are unlimited time and 60k-something miles. Sorry for not being exact, but I'm getting ready to go to sleep and too tired to look it up.
If your car's mileage is under that, and you haven't modified anything between the throttle body and the cat, Honda should cover it free-of-charge. Worth checking out, no???

Well, not to be a d*ck, but I don't think Honda is going to cover your O2 under warranty unless it really is BAD. If its lazy, or just getting tired, its still functioning to Honda and thus still giving your ride clean emmisions....and isn't that what your car is all about...clean emmisions (OBD-II)?
At that, I didn't know Honda covered the O2's for an exteneded period after the defualt 3yr/36k mark....I do know, however, that the Catalytic Converter is covered by them for like 100k miles (thats a governement thing though).....interesting.
And the only reason I know this, is because I have a 99 CX (stock) with 122k on the clock....well at about 75k things started getting a little iffy so I took it to Honda to have it looked at. They said the O2 cross-count was fine. Alright, good enough. Well, not being satisfied with that, I borrowed an O'scope (Tek TDS-754) and probed it myself (was not possible to get it before I went to Honda, otherwise I surely would have done it and avoided they labor charge). Sure enough, it was crossing (rather slowly) and responding to a lean/rich test. I went ahead and bought an O2 anyway, installed, and the iffy-ness went away. Moral of the story: The O2 is quite an integral part of the feedback loop used by the ECU....and it seems your cars state-of-tune depends on how healthy your O2 is. And even though it was getting lazy...it never threw a code.....looks like the ECU is pretty damn capable of pulling things back into shape for that stringent OBD-II emmisions stuff.
And forgot to add...when the iffy-ness started happening, I would get gas mileage that would vary from tank to tank in the range of 30 - 40mpg (usually averaging about 33 - 34). After changing it [O2], gas mileage has stayed pretty consistent in the 38 - 39mpg neighborhood. And what was even more interesting, when I removed the old one, there was not one spot of carbon build-up on it...more like a ghostly white color...indicative of a lean-burn situation I would suppose.

Is there an O2 that hooks up to the intake - short answer is NO, but I'm not even sure why you suspect that there is one located in the intake. Usually there are two O2's...one before the Cat and one after. There is a pic provided in this thread to show you where there locations are.
How do you know if it needs to be changed - Well...I kinda addressed that in my previous post. But to check it accurately, you need an O'scope, but if you wanna check it quickly, you can use a DMM too.
Like I said in my previous post, my O2 was NOT bad...it was getting lazy, so I replaced it, and it has made a world of difference.
And if you have basic hand tools, you can change the O2 yourself...it took me all of about 10 minutes to do it.
And of course do not buy from the dealer - I bought mine from HParts.com for like $140.

Sorry BlackDeuceCoupe - I have had an experience contrary to what you state. Yeah, if its BAD, it'll trip the light (I agree)....but it WON'T trip the light if its getting lazy...as the ECU can still keep the a/f mix on the clean side of emmisions (OBD-II).

how do would i check my o2 sensor with a dmm?
This combined with very low signal strength, means measurements can only realistically be made using a digital high impedance multimeter with a bar graph, or other specialised equipment.
Give it a try and let me know what happens...

Re: How much is it usually for a new o2 sensor?????? (BlackDeuceCoupe)
No, it gets lazy in its response to the exhaust....instead of doing 10 cross-counts, its only doing 5 a second. The O2 can become clogged by a rich running exhaust (or slowly clogged over a length of miles) and the portion that is exposed to the outside atomsphere could become contaminated by coolant (if it spilled on it). They do specify a service limit for it....typically 60k.

Okay, that makes some sense. You seem to have a pretty good understanding of how O2 sensors work. I can tell by your answer. I'll take your word for it. And, I don't do that V often...
