How much r134a with a B16a swap with a gsr compressor
Just like the title states. I have a 1992 eg that had a d series engine. It now has a b16a with a gsr compressor. Does anyone know the amount of refrigerent it takes now with what kind and how much oil? I know its suppose to be 3oz. for each major component. TIA!

if the ac component has been taken apart before and then reinstalled together later on. u will need to have it vacummed and recharged by a ac shop cause the ac system has pressure sensor,it wont turn on unless it is pressurized.simly recharge it wont work.and also u will need a brand new ac dryer and receiver.
it will probably cost u around $100 to get it vacummed and recharged by a ac shop.

Yes, I know this thanks. I have the equipment at my shop to do this and I do this on tractors everyday. The system has not been open but I'm going to recover whatever it has and put it in a vacuum and do a leak check to make sure. I just need to know the amount of r134a and oil it holds.

It is a Denso compressor correct?
This is straight from the Helms manual:
Denso uses ND-Oil 8 or PAG 46.
Honda P/N 38897-PR7-A01AH (4 oz. bottle)
Honda P/N 38899-PR7-A01 (1 1/3 oz. bottle)
If you've replaced any of the following, you'll need to add more:
Condenser .......................... 20 ml (2/3 fl-oz.)
Evaporator .......................... 45 ml (1 2/3 fl-oz.)
Line or hose ........................ 10 ml (1/3 fl-oz.)
Receiver/Dryer .................... 10 ml (1/3 fl-oz.)
Leakage repair .................... 25 ml (5/6 fl-oz.)
Compressor ........................ For compressor replacement, subtract the volume of oil drained from the removed compressor from 140 ml (4 2/3 fl-oz.), and drain the calculated volume of oil from the new compressor.
Note: Even if no oil is drained from the removed compressor, don't drain more than 50 ml (1 2/3 fl-oz.) from the new compressor.
All of this is on page 22-22 of Helms Service Manual for 1996 - 2000 civic. The volumes I gave you are for the Denso compressor on the 99-00 Civic Si. GSRs use the exact same compressor.
On page 22-46 it says that refrigerant capacity is 600 - 650 g (21.1 - 22.9 oz.)
I hope this helps...

Re: How much r134a with a B16a swap with a gsr compressor (B18CivicEJ8)
Thanks for your help! I just noticed your local.
Well I got the car started yesterday after 2 years + and the car runs good! Once I got the car to another holding spot till I can bring it back next week I started the AC just to see if the compressor was working and to my surprise it was working! This doesn't mean I'm not going to recover, put it in a vacuum, and leak check it. I'm pretty sure it is low on freon so I'll charge everything correctly.
