i had actualy painted a jeep and i ended up getting a gallon of color a gallon of primer and 2 quarts of sealer, i have a court left of the color and primer and i used all of the sealer i would recomend using a sealer over the primer cause you wont be able to see were you had to bondo if any and if you scratch it it doesnt go all the way to the metal but that is my prefrence

If you have to ask some of these questions, then you should probably not paint your car yourself, Leave it to a pro, it will definitely be fewer headaches. 
But if you do I wold do research on it first and make sure you prep the car well, because a paint job is only as good as the prep.
BTW yellow I've heard is one ofthe hardest colors to paint (at least to make it look right)

get a gallon,especially if your doing yellow.paint is usually cheaper by the gallon,if you buy 3 quarts it will probably cost the same as geting a gallon.sisnce your doing a yellow,get a yellow primar,not grey or red,get the lightest color you can.get a gallon of clear also.
