how much hp did i gain? - 93 del sol si
i've got a 93 del sol si D16Z6 and i'm wondering if anyone could give me an estimation, from their own personal experience, on how much horsepower i've gained. i know it's impossible to tell without hooking the car up to a dyno but i'm too cheap for that . and i'm sure i haven't gained much of anything but here's my setup -
intake -
true cold air intake with the cone filter through the fender
exhaust -
ebay non-sequential headers
high flow cat
bro speed resonator
bro speed muffler

my non-sequential headers do actually take away from peak horsepower but add to low and mid range horsepower.

Its easy to think your car is faster, when you think it will be. Go throw it on a dyno, because this is useless. Experienced enthusiasts answered your question and you say their wrong... why did you ask in the first place.

this "experienced enthusiast" claims that cold air intakes take away from your horsepower. so if this were true, that would mean that every aftermarket company out there that produces them is wrong. so everybody's been hoaxed for all these years thinking that this tried and true aftermarket intake will give you horsepower when it does the exact oppasite. i think not.

No. He just said that a short ram air would be better suited for your little single cam. You WILL pull more power form this than a CAI with your current setup. Don't be so defensive. Not our fault we gotta tell you you barely make 5hp more than stock on your motor.

the non-sequential header combines runners 1 with 3 and 2 with 4. the reason for this is because the stock headers that combine 1 with 2 and 3 with 4 making the exhaust strokes collide with eachother due to the firing order. the non-sequential setup frees up the traffic. it's a setup that most people don't run because of the peak horsepower loss. but the gain at low and mid range rpms is quite noticable.

Cold air is GOOD but think about it. The piping is longer therefore, the longer it takes to get to the Engine.

5 hp is what i expected. i'm being defensive because everybody's replying like i'm some damn noob because i'm not running a crazy 200 hp engine.

It happens. I can guarantee you will have way better throttle response if you use a SRI instead of CAI. No need to spend more money either, cut the CAI in half(you don't need that ****). All that piping is too restrictive on a single cam. I know it feels better cuzz you went from stock to CAI, but it will feel even better going CAI to SRI.

You are being misconcepted. I said it lost low end torque. You might have gained 1-2hp from a CAI. But you lost low end torque. And anyone who owns a D series knows that what this little engine needs is TORQUE. Besides Torque is what wins races also. Not saying you gonna feel like you got turbo or something but it would feel better. If your CAI is a 2 piece, I would say try making it a short ram. So you can see the diffirence. Also there is a DYNO sheet somewhere where it proves that a SRI w/velocity stack gained about 6-8whp/wt(might be a little off) over a AEM CAI intake.
Cold air is GOOD but think about it. The piping is longer therefore, the longer it takes to get to the Engine.

i've seen people run a cone filter right off their throttle body with no intake pipe or anything. do you guys think thats beneficial at all?
