how much horsepower is too much horsepower for a daily driver with street tires?
so where do you guys draw the line? .. how much horsepower does it take to make street driving .. not fun? .. and how much horsepower is the most fun?
i was just wondering because i know spinning tires in all gears would not be fun for a daily driver .. especially going around turns and such .. so what do you guys think is the ideal balance of horsepower/fun for daily driving?

180-225whp after that (~250whp) the axles will be really stressed and u'll need better ones, etc...

well i mean even with better axles .. just when does it make the transition from being fun to being a pain for driving a daily driver?
my opinion of a car that would not be fun .. would be something that would constantly spin its street tires ..
i probaly agree .. imo .. this is just a guess .. i would say 225-230 would be perfect, 250's pushin it .. and 300 might be bearable .. anything after is just used for the track

yeah i'd say 250 would just start to get annoying. My d16y8 dyno'd at 206 and i was still able to spin at 50-60 mph in 2nd when boost came on, and that was on Si 15" wheels with dunlop direzza 205/50's. It was managable, but another 30 hp would have made second gear useless and 250 would just be dumb. At which point, time to get better footwear ideas

I have near 300 hp daily driver. Whoever says low 200 is rediculous. I can just choose to spin my tires or not to....its that simple By the way i plan on hitting 350 in a month or less and still dd'ing it

yea .. i realize you can choose to spin your tires or not .. i just wanted to know when it gets to be too much .. when its just basically uncontrollable and frustrating ..
but i think i would be fine with 200-250 .. that would be perfect imo

I would not have a problem with dailying a car with 400. Maybe more. Nice thing about a turbo is you can drive it around no boost..but have that LITTLE extra kick when you want it

I had 236whp in my EM1 and it was perfect...spun 1st and that was it., railed it every day on the backroads in 90 degree weather..on the oem b16a, no problems.
(edit) and this was on an OEM ITR clutch, didn't slip once and felt like stock

any car making 400whp + and using it at the front wheel is going to hard to drive daily especially with these crazy *** clutches out there... With their high clamping force, plus your left leg is going to be bigger than your right, plus imagine what shock its putting thru your drive train...
The only way a 400+ whp FWD car is daily drivable is if you spend the money on a Tilton Carbon on Carbon clutch with a hydrolic throw out bearing... Even then the flywheel is soo freaking light you lose drivability there in stop and go traffic...

What was your turbo/motor setup, if you don't mind me asking?
