I have a strange question...

To put a long story short, i need to drive a 94 civic with a bad alternator 13 hours. I know that sounds like a crazy idea, but i'm going to have two fully charged batteries with me, and i need to calculate in amps, how much electrical power a 94 civic with a D15B7 consumes per hour so i can relate that to how much juice is in my batteries.

Sounds like a recipe for disaster. Why do you not just replace the alternator if you know it's bad? If you wind up stranded on the side of the road you'll probably spend a lot more money on a tow.

I can tell you from personal expirence that with no alternator you've got about 20 minutes per battery. Mind you if you're in the US and don't have DRLs and are driving in the daylight you may get 30 - 45 minutes per battery assuming they're fully charged. You wont get anywhere near 13 hours unless the alternator is putting out something.

batteries were never meant to keep the engine running, just to get that single crank and done.

these alternators crank crazy amounts of amps compared to any car battery.

if headlights will drain a batttery in 40 minutes or less picture what all the engine components combined would be, so your not going very far at all.

in short the guy above me knows what he's talking about.

You will end up stranded and may get a whole hour down the road on 2 batteries. In short, cough up the funds and go get an alternator! You can get brand new cheap chinese alts on ebay for a little bit of nothing now days.

As the others have said, a car won't run strictly off the battery for very long. You're going to need to replace that alternator.
