Ask the machine shop for an estimate. Yellow pages should help you locate at least one.

Hard to say how much it will cost since most shops charge by the hour + parts. Expect around $60/hr.

As a point of reference, I recently replaced the cylinder head on my sons 92 Civic and it cost $400 for the head and another $80 or so for a head gasket set. This was at a cylinder head exchange type shop where you just exchange your old head for a fully rebuilt one.

You might google cylinder head exchange in Hartford and see you have such a shop in your area and give them a call and check the exchange as well as repair prices.

there are low-mileage used engines at that price. not as much precision required to swap an complete engine as there is machining, rebuilding and replacing a cylinder head.

Non-technical questions like this one belong in the Value Thread sticky at the top.
