How much did your motor swap cost?
Hey guys, anyone still remember how much their motor swapped costed? If they did it themselves or by a shop and how long did it take them. Also, please include your engine and chassis. I'm just trying to get some figures so if I should try and tackle the job myself or leave it to the professionals to do all the dirty work. I'm deciding on get a B-series engine in my 96 civic hatchback.

I did mine over a weekend with my brother and dad helping.
And I lucked out and got my B18C1 for $800, but ended up rebuilding it with forged pistons/rods and "overhauling" the motor for around $3K.

Ya don't swap ur d. It isn't worth it. Just boost it and it will spank gsr's and b16s all day for half the price.

Re: How much did your motor swap cost?
Of course this topic was going smoothly until the last two posts. ^^^
But to actually answer your question, I'm swapping a B16a into my 94 hatch and I figure by the time I'm done it'll have costed roughly $1500. I'll be swapping it myself over (hopefully) a weekend.
Motor/tranny - $550 (already bought dirt cheap off a friend)
Misc. Linkage, Mounts - $250 (all scrap yard finds)
ECU - $250-$350 (stock ECU or possibly a chipped P28)
New gaskets, rings, seals - $350 (New valve seals, HG, P. Rings, various gaskets)

OBD1 JDM D15B Vtec swap, complete engine, reused existing tranny, engine was $683CDN after tax and shipping. Timing belt and water pump was another $120 or so (I used aftermarket, although OEM is the way to go, I was pretty much flat broke at the time and needed my car to start a new job). Installed the engine myself. Final price was around $850

Re: How much did your motor swap cost?
Shouldnt be too much . network ! network ! network! youd be surprised how many grease monkeys are out there who can swap your b-series motor into your eg with ECU ,linkage if necessary , tranny "depending on what ratios preference and axles etc. for cheap. a good friend of mine swapped a b18c motor on my EM1 for $800. and ive had flawless results. again depends on who you know.

Re: How much did your motor swap cost?
93 eh3 with jdm b18c. I already had a b16 so all I needed was a b18c longblock from hmo. I payed $2000 including shipping. Me and my buddy did the work. All in I paid about $2300 including basic maintence parts such as water pump, timing belt and a few others. Then I sold the bare b16 for $350 so a grand total of $1950. You can't beat that.

Re: How much did your motor swap cost?
First swap was a JDM '94 GSR into an EJ1 (complete motor, installed by my local shop with new clutch flywheel, water pump, timing belt, fluids, etc..) was $4000CAD about 4 years ago.
Second swap was a JDM '98 Spec ITR into an EG hatch (re-used clutch/flywheel, but paid for new timing belt, water pump, etc) $6000 approx CAD about 3 years ago. (the shop bought back my GSR motor after a year of use for $3500 cuz another customer wanted one badly, so that's when i went ITR).
Shop did the swap in 1 day (out with the D, in ith the B).
ps - "costed" is not a word
