How much is the Cost to Ref your car??? & Question about Getting it Bar'd
This is my first time taking my car to ref and i was wondering what's the average cost?
and also another question:
i have a 96 civic hatchback and am doing a 99 LS obd2a motor swap and the ecu is a 96 RS obd2a...will they trip about this?

I don't see why that setup wouldn't pass. I'm assuming that the engine and ecu are US spec. So that would definately be in your favor, and it costs less than 40 if I remember correctly. It's pretty much a smog test, you have 2 chances to pass. So if you fail you get a retest. So just make sure all your emission equipment is hooked up, and you should be good to go.

if i'm not mistaken, the ecu is the same for an rs and an ls. the only difference w/the rs and ls would be options for the car.
cost to bar it is $48 if i'm not mistaken. might be $38.

cost about $38.25. its just like going to smog your car. just tell them the motor is a 96 and they will look at the numbers on the ecu to verify

has to be the same obd, but no year, there is no real way of telling the year of a ECU, the weird **** with mine, i have a 2001 motor with a obd1 ecu, and bard it as a obd1 94 motor

the cost to pass BAR inspection is the same as or a little bit more than a normal smog test. What costs extra is getting everything done right, and make sure you have as many OEM parts on the motor as possible and that your exhaust is in check(They gave me a "final" warning @ the first ref station I went to)

well, on this 96 RS b18b ecu...the last digits are like A02, and the 99 LS b18b ecu last digits are A03. The reason i got a 96 RS b18b ecu is because the 99 ecu was throwing a 91 code (Fuel tank pressure) and the 96 ecu doesn't look for that code.
