Default How much can an oem flywheel be lightened??

I hear they are about 18 lbs and i was wondering if you can gt them down to about 13 without mechamical problems. If not that low, then how light can you make them.

i've heard bad stories about getting a stock flywheel lightened. IMHO save your money and buy a new lightened flywheel like from JUN or TODA. i think the JUN UL flywheels weighs 9 lbs. i have the JUN ultra light and i love mine.

ehh i would wait. its not worth it having a flywheel explode because it was lightened improperly or wasnt balanced correctly.
i have a clutchnet in mine (www.importparts.com) i LOVE it. no problems whatsoever.

b18c5, how much for the flywheel and clutch. I don't have the $ now but school is over in 9 days and i need to plan ahead. I got the si tranny so these parts are almost a definite.

One of the companies i deal with remanufactures fly-wheels and I had them custom cut one for me, and they got 3.5lbs off. it was done very well, and all excess material was taken from the outer edge. I don't think i'd do it again, it has seriuosly hurt my low-end power, and when the a.c. kicks on, my car vibrates like a bitch. The energy suspension mounts don't help, but anyway, it makes the car idle lower, because there is less inertia, It does rev up quick, and revs back down hella fast.

12 lbs on a stock D flywheel

after milling and balancing charges, plus the 1-2 week wait, it is cheaper to get a light flywheel and just swap in.

BTW NA SOHC do NOT need a lightweight flywheel when running slicks.
I know WHY!
