How many Synchromesh Quarts?
Gentlemen,
I searched but most threads I found did not seem to apply.
'93 Civic HB CX 5spd.
154k miles. Does not grind, but it's not very smooth when selecting gears.
Time to change transmission oil. Decided to go with Pennzoil Synchromesh Fluid (PN: 3501). I understand it should be between 2-3 quarts, but how many should I put in exactly?
Thank you,
-Walter

There are two plugs on the passenger side of the transmission, towards the back, somewhat in front of the axle entry. The lower one is your train bolt and the higher one is the filler.
With the car on a level surface, put in 2.5 quarts in the fill hole. Then stick your finger in the hole. If you can feel the fluid there, your good.

More like 1.5 quarts for his d-series. Drain the old stuff out. Use a funnel with a long neck and fill it until fluid starts dripping from the fill hole.

Re: How many Synchromesh Quarts?
Thanks for the tips guys. I am still not sure wether to fill it with 1.5 or 2.5 quarts, I guess I'll just keep pouring until the top filler 'overflows'.

Re: How many Synchromesh Quarts?
Cambo: I had already gotten Synchromesh.
Thanks for the tip guys, the fluid that I found in the tranny smelled like gear oil. I drained it and pumped Synchromesh until it started overflowing. I was able to put almost two quarts.
The gearbox shifts more smoothly now, gears are engaged softly, a definite improvement (daily driving).
