How many motor mounts involved in a B18 swap into an EK?
Ok so I bought my car with a B18 swap already installed in my '96 EK hatch. I know there is one motor mount behind the motor near the firewall, one on the driver side near the timing belts, and one on the transmission side. Is that all the mounts that are need? Or am I missing a mount anywhere? Is the bracket where the A/C compressor is bolted onto considered a mount? When I start the car and its warming up there is a very loud rattling sound coming right where the A/C compressor is and its coming from the bushing that is bolted to the chassis. The bracket isn't even touching the bushing its so loose. There is a bolt coming out of the A/C bracket. Is that supposed to have a nut on the other end after it is inserted throught the bushing on the chassis? I just want to fix the things that wheren't done right on this car.

To put a B-series in any 96-00 civic, you will need 99-00 Civic SI parts, such as mounts, linkage, as well as A/C and passenger side torque mount brackets.
Get a 99-00 civic SI A/C bracket, it should be bolted down firmly.

That mount on the A/C bracket you can take off as it does not do much. It's a stabilizer and yes there is supposed to be a bolt holding it in place to he A/C bracket.
There is supposed to be another Stabilizer on the Tranny..right in-front of the tranny you should have a black bracket. Most people do not put that one in as well.
My stock driverside mount is bad and i wanted to see how much it moves so I drove around my neighborhood without the hood and without that bracket in front of the tranny. The thing wiggled like J-lo's butt.
If you have the aftermarket mounts like the Hasport, Innovative & etc you can do with only 3 but if you have the stock I recommend all 4 just in case.

Thanks. All of my mounts are stock. Right now I'm not experienceing too much movement, but I'm sure in time they will give out. I'd rather be safe then sorry and get some after market mounts. I don't run a/c on my car so I'm thinking of just removing the a/c compressor all together along with the bracket and bushing on the side. I don't have the lower mount on the transmission side either that bolts to the transmission.

Rewiring Injectors.
Rewiring Alternator green plug.
OBD2 and OBD1 plugs for these 3 things is diffrent.
Before you do your swap remove your Throttle body!!!. How can I stress this!? I hate seeing fucked up TPS sensors because jackasses dont remove the ******* throttlebody its 2 hoses and 4 12mm bolts and a $5 gasket.
You will also need the GSR Upper and Lower Radiator hoses.
Remove your radiator so it wont crack like mine did since my friend slipped and engine smacked the radiator.
I had a JDM GSR swap in my 97 Coupe have fun and trust me its easy as hell! I didnt know how to even change brakes and I did this swap. I learned to change brakes after I did the swap. LOL. I learned to remove and put axles as I went with the swap. Good luck PM me for any more info. </TD></TR></TABLE>

The torque / torsion mounts are the ones previously described as the mount the AC compressor is bolted to, and the transmission torsion mount in the front. These both bolt to the underside of the chassis. Contrary to what some may say about these being useless, not installing these brackets will lead to premature wear of your main 3 mounts, whether stock or aftermarket. If the OP wants to do it right, I'd say install those... even even with a D15, but especially with the B18.

No, I don't believe the one bolted to the tranny housing will fit. The chassis mount with the bushing stays put.

im researching for my first swap and figuring out which mounts i need seems to be the hardest part.
some people say all i need is combo ls/civic mounts
now im starting to find out i need em1 mounts.
so, so i use an integra front tranny bracket?

Almost. For the main mount around the timing belt, OEM mounts come in 3 pieces: the mount on the block, the spaceship mount on the chassis, and the piece that connects the two. The top of the mount coming off the block has a different bolt pattern between B series. The B16 and B18C5 share the same while the B18C1 is different.
You also need 2 part numbers for the rear main mount -- there's a chassis mount and the T bracket that bolts the tranny to the chassis mount. Both pieces from an EM1. D series T brackets differ from those of B series. Good stuff otherwise
