How many here have busted a Honda diff?
This applies to both open diffs and LSD's. Those that have, what mods were done to the car(especially tranny upgrades like clutch, FD, etc.) I just want to know how often Honda diffs grenade because I just replaced my diff due to it shearing teeth on the spider gears, and I want to make sure that it doesnt happen again.

I blew my S4C diff up at the track. I broke 4 teeth off, but the car still drove fine. The only reason I found out was because my tranny started to leak from a crack in the housing. Turns out one of the pieces of the diff shot down into the housing and cracked the inside enough to penetrate slightly. Needless to say, I have a Quaife now and haven't had any problems for over a year and a half.
Edit: I have a B18C1 bottom end with a B16A head, at the time I was putting down 170hp and 125 torque.

Anyone here break a stock diff in a B16 tranny? If so how? I'm afraid to drive my car hard for fear of breaking the diff again. I just want to find out if stock Honda diffs are inherently weak, or what could have caused my diff to go.

Could it have been because I was running a 6 puck sprung clutch? It engaged pretty harsh. I've since swapped it out for an ITR clutch disk. Another thing, the night b4 the diff broke, I installed my Energy Suspension rear motor mount insert that I had laying around(I had already been running with the 2 front inserts). Could that have caused more stress on the diff and caused it to break?

So since I took out the 6 puck sprung disk and swapped it for an ITR disk, and coupled it with my Exedy PP, do you think I'll still have diff probs? I also removed the rear motor mount insert since I put it in the night b4 the diff broke. I'm thinking it put more stress on the diff causing it to shear some teeth. (Could that happen?)

I broke my D16 diff using Nitto 555R drag radials at the track.....I heard of other peeps having problems with those tires and diffs too...

The Quaife is just about bullet proof. If you ever see one up close you will know why I say that. Its literally carved out of a solid steel billet. Very impressive piece of machining.
