how low should i go??
hey guys need your help again!! i have a 2000 civic ex (2door) im looking to buy new shocks and springs dont want koil overs cuz the car is too bouncy for me. i was thinking about getting tokico springs and shocks (blues) only thing is that i found out that they're not going to make my car that low. the guy at performancecenter.com told me that if i lower my car too much i would lose handling control how true is that?? anybody know what i should get then? i was looking for a complete setup shocks and springs thanx!!!

that's true, besides you'll go through tires like WHOA but, I think you handle pretty well after you lower it some. I lowered mine 2.5 inches and it handles pretty good. Granted a few sway bars and whatnot. But I would seriously recommend a Camber kit. 1. You'll eat away tires if you don't. 2. It puts a great deal of stress on your brakes due to having your wheels on a slant. I went through 2 sets of rotors. 3. You're going to go through tires like WHOA (again)!
I didn't buy a camber kit yet either. Something I think I should do before spring comes when the civic comes back on the road! I don't know if any of you had problems with your brakes after you lowered it a decent amount but I did. And that is what I was told. So if anyone can prove that theory otherwise, be my guest.
oh yea, Tokico is good!
oh, did I mention you'll go through a lot of tires.

whatever you do dont slam it because if you do you have to worry about every pothole and go on bumps and stuff at an angle which really sucks

with the correct alignment and camber kits ... your tires will be fine.. just b/c you lower your car doesnt mean your going to eat up your tires Unless
you go w/o an alignment and run no camber kits .. if your looking for a good spring/shock combo .. i say neuspeed race w/ konis .. its 2.25f and 2.00r .. just make sure soon as everythin is set in get an alignment... stick with brand names .. do it right the first time or you will regret it .. ..

Re: (xtreme412)
Camber alone doesn't eat tires, you have to add toe to the mix. Lowever your car, get the toe put back into spec, for a daily driver get it set at zero, and you should be perfectly fine. Camber kits are a waste of money imo. Local "performance shops", and "tire stores" will try their hardest to sell you a camber kit, don't get caught in the trap.

that set up is fine, your ride wont be so bad as long as you still have suspension travel and your shocks arent blown. i personally just have a shock and spring set up (h&r cup kit) and it is a freakin champ on the track (pacific raceways) and fine for daily driving.
