i have a 4dr 98 civic...just got some 17x8 rims from a private seller?? i didnt kno it was gonna be 8 inches wide but oh wells it still looks nice...anyways the tires says 205/40ZR17...and i wanna lower my car but it looks like if i do lower it its gonna hit the fender cause it looks a lil too wide...how many inches should i drop the fronts and rears?? for it too look good and for it not to hit my fender??

Not much. You will rub on turns and speed bumps. I suggest leaving it as an offroader, since that's what it is now, or get smaller rims.

get some fully adjustable coilovers got some alright ones on e-bay then you will be able to know how low you can gooo....

Lower it as much as you feel you need to, after it's your car. I'd suggest getting some coilovers so you can adjust to your liking.

depends on what the offset is. with 8" wide, that's rubbage for sure.

go with a tein S tech spring. They are very nice and won't lower you too much, you should be fine as long as you dont get some crazy race drop. I have the S tech on my Sol with 15's and 50vr tires and i still have a little gap. just my 2 cents

First thing you should do is check to make sure the offset on the wheels is one that will fit a Honda.

Anything lower than +32 will stick out a bit and higher than +45 might rub the inside, and those figures are based on a wheel 15inches in diameter and 6.5 inches wide.

You should only need a two-inch drop at the most for it to look good and to serve you well performance-wise as well. I would recommend using full-type coilovers, so that you can adjust the height, and don't forget to right the camber with a camber kit of some sort to maintain a full contact patch with your tires to the road.

You could always roll the fender out a little, if you are rubbing. Have you tried putting the wheels on yet?

well i put all 4 wheels on today...it sticks out to the point where its being aligned to the fender...iono if its too bad...dang and i just got these racing hart type c's too... ...i dont wanna give them up yet...but damn my car looks hecka high after i put them all on...does anyone have 8 inch wide wheels on?? how low did you guys drop it??

i bet they look nice but looks over functionality??? you might be ok if you remove the plastic fender well guard and roll the inner fender a bit. Also a camber kit would probly aid in your situation. Little narrower, better offset, better fit, plus a little more rubber for dampning, lots of speedbumps in FL. good luck

well dont wanna be mean but those wheels are too big to get that "lowrider"look ur wanting....if u still wanna "look" low u might need to get springs or coils AND a body kit to make it look closer to the ground (you already have no fender gap, the only other thing that makes you look lowered)
depends what your trying to make your car look like...me personally, i like the drop on 15-16inch wheels and no body kit just the stock side skirts looks hella clean in my opinion..

well i juss checked out my friends accord and he has some 8.5 wide wheels...and his car is lowered 2 inches...it looks like it would rub but he said it doesnt...iono...but how would i go about rolling out the fenders a lil bit??

ok im thinkin bout selling my *breaths in and out* type c's but im also thinkin of tryin to lowering it 1.3 inches but dont wanna waste time and money if its gonna rub....and if i do sell those type c's were soo hard for me to find and i got it at a koo price...anyone wit 17x8 or 18x8 rims, can you tell me if you lowered your ride and how low and does it rub?? or should i just sell....man my car makes me stress
