Default How to lengthen Transmission Gear ratios?

I am thinking about boosting a 00 civic si. But im told that it would be a real neck snapper since the gears are so short. Is there anyway to lengthen these gears?

I'm no transmission tech, but I'd say to research a different transmission, or do some real homework and find out if you can swap in a taller final drive/different gear set.

It's not just as easy as "lengthening" the gears, theres some serious work involved regardless of what route you decide to take.

Just get an LS trans has longer gears than B16 and they are cheap

well you press start,go to tune car, press r2 to get to transmission, and then you can mess with any gear, even the final drive.(forza 2 Motorsport)

On a realistic note, just swap out the transmission for either a gsr or ls

like another has said your cheapest most beneficial route is to purchase a GSR trans. It would be cheaper than increasing the final drive in your b16 tranny and better for boost

If it is for the track... a larger wheel size will increase your overall final drive. If not get ready to spend some money on intenrals

But seriously. Leave your Si tranny in there. I have lots of friend's boosting on Si tranny's on all different levels of setups.

Yeah and one thing to point out is if you go get a GSR tranny... they are a little longer after 1st gear. The SI tranny is worth plenty and could prob be swapped with someone looking for something shorter. I myself chose an SI tranny over my GSR. But then again I am NA

But like we were saying, lots of people use a SI tranny. Those boosting look for smaller more reactive turbos. Something to think about

Not at all. The tranny's pretty much eliminate turbo lag. There cars spool so fast. What kit are you going with or what size turbo?
