Default How to Jack up my EX?

I know this is a really newbie question, but please bear with me. I normally used my dad's wheel ramps to get under the car, but i finally went out and bought a jack and some jack stands.

the question is, how do i jack up the car to put the jackstands under? If i jack up the car using the jack points, i can't put the jack stands under that same jack point cause the jack's in the way. (does that make sense? )

i tried using the tow hooks front and back, but i guess my jack is too small to lift it high enough to get the jackstands underneath. i bought a jack 2.5ton jack that lifts around 20" and my stands lift around 20" also... but when i jacked the car using the tow hooks, it didn't raise it high enough. do i need to get like a SUV jack or something?

are there other points on the car that i can use other than the jack points?

I use the jack-up points and then place the jackstands under the front crossmemeber/frame...where the lower control arms connect.

is there a jack point for 6th gen civics on the front of the car? i know there are 2 towhooks, but i don't like the idea of using them.. especially because using one will raise the car unevenly.

Actually its silly question.

You DO NOT necessary have to jack up the car where it is recommended.

You CAN jack up the car a little bit off the jacking place.

here is what i do.

I have only a stock jack, plus only the stock jack will fit under my car, (car being dropped) Jack up the car little bit behind the jacking space, the car will go up like normal, than place the your jack stands where the jacking place is.

Hope you got it.

You can use the cross member.
Or the frame of the car.

I've seen people jacking up their car on the oil pan.
I don't think it should be done.

for the front i usually put the jack right next to the specified jack point, and then place the jack stands on the specified jack point

look under ur car of the front bumper a little to the driver side, there is a jack point to jack the front end. U dont have to use the side jack point nor the front tow points

if your car is too low, drive your car over a block or blocks and stop it there. this will give you enough clearance to fit the jack underneath the front tow hooks.
