how to installed an OEM JDM CTR lip 96-00 EK hatch
the things you will need for this projects
OEM CTR rear lip
OEM rear bumper
4 fender screws w/washers
4 screw clips that go in the bumpers for the fender screws
6 of these odd bolts. i think they came from a DA integra.
drill and bits up to 3/8
rat tail file
time
favorite KMFDM album (optional)
ok here are the parts you need. if someone could tell me where those bolts came from i would greatly appriciate it
i didn't have oem screw clips for this project but i had some ford one laying around so i used them. you will need to put them on the inside of the bumper at the dimples. this reinforces the urethane and keeps the screw from backing/vibrating out over time. the bumpers had little notches for these clips molded in
the kind folks at honda marked the rear bumper in the exact places you will need to drill the holes.
i used a center punch to dimple at the center of the cross to make drilling easier. i started with a small drill bit and worked up to a 3/8th. i then filed the holes to clean them up a bit and make them just smidgen larger to get a firm grip on the bolts
these are the captive nuts that you are in your CTR rear lip. these bolts may not be what was meant for them but the fit is absolutely perfect!!
once you have all the holes made start the screws and bolts and slowly tighten them down a bit by bit. you want to make the lip come down on the bumper as evenly as possible
i am not sure if these are the perfect screws to be using here but they fit pretty well.
then mount and enjoy!!

Good write up! I would love to do this to my hatch, but i have to ask, what mods did you have to do to your exhaust so it won't melt the lip? i would imagine more exhaust hangers but wouldn't it make the exhaust point down at an awkward angle?

I would say either you would have to get a new muffler with a hidden tip or do what a lot of people do. They just take a knife and slowly make a clean cut around the muffler on the lip. Get someone to do it for you if your a little nervous because it could look very stupid but when done right it look very clean

Re: (SOHC_civic_si)
the oem lip fits flush with your bumper. except for the small part on the sides. so if its not hitting the bumper then it won't hit the lip. i have to redo my exhaust system anyway so i am going to try to locate everything so it won't damage the bumper/lip.
another HT member made this heatshield to keep the muffler from eating his bumper. i don't remember who owned the pic but if he would like to tell us how he made it i'd be happy to find out!
