How to: Install a Walbro 255lph fuel pump into your EG
Just finished installing the fuel pump into my hatch the other day, the engine is not put back together yet, but I am installing as much as I can before the block comes back. The installation of the pump was pretty straight forward, it just took me a long time because I did things out of sequence, hopefully with this write up I can save someone else some time.
TOOLS NEEDED: rag, socket wrench, 10mm socket, socket extension, #2 phillips screwdriver, pliers, small flathead screwdriver
***BEFORE YOU START, MAKE SURE YOU UNPLUG THE BATTERY, AND ARE IN A WELL VENTILATED AREA, AND PLEASE DONT SMOKE OR BE BY FLAMES***
1. remove your rear seat (just the bottom part, you will need the 10mm socket to get the bolt out in the middle, use the extension)
2. with the phillips screwdriver, remove the screws holding the metal cover onto the floor (about 4 or 5 of them)
3. open up the gas cap to let out some pressure from the tank
4. with the pliers, remove the return fuel line (it was a pain for me to get off because I tried this after I removed the nuts)
5. now do the same with the fuel line, and be ready for a little bit of gasoline to come out, but not too much, keep the rag handy to clean up any mess
6. unplug the electrical connector
7. with the 10mm socket, remove the 6 or so nuts holding down the pump
8. remove pump assembly from the vehicle (it will not just come right out, it feels like it is stuck on something, but do not worry, that is just the fuel filter and it will not be damaged, its getting replaced anyway, so just pull it out of there in a diagonal direction, up and towards the front of the vehicle, be careful not to splash gas everywhere, have the rag handy)
9. unplug the electrical socket on the actual pump itself (there is a plastic "lock" that is also on there, its green be careful not to break it, remove it first then the main black connector can be removed with ease)
10. grab the old fuel pump and pull hard to pop it out of the assembly, it is held in place with a rubber piece, you will need that later to hold the new pump in place
11. use the pliers to remove the fuel line from the assembly, you will be using a new hose anyway
12. to remove the rubber piece on the old pump, simply use the small flathead screwdriver to remove the little washer holding the filter to the bottom of the pump, then it comes right off, dont worry about the washer, the new pump came with a new one (dont lose it!)
13. now you can take the old rubber piece and put it over the new filter, then use the supplied washer to hold it in place like the one on the old pump, just put the washer on so the raised part faces away from the bottom of the pump, and press it all the way down the little white stump on the bottom of the new pump, using the small flathead
14. now would be a good time to put the new hose on the pump itself and tighten it up, then you can attach it to the assembly, and push it back into the assembly the same way you pulled off the old one, but be careful becaues it takes a good amount of force, and you have to watch out for the fuel filter, so make sure you push from the filter itself (the white plastic part where it attaches to the pump) when its on there push the washer back to the bottom if needed
15. push in the black connector, then put the green lock back on
16. now your finished, simply put the filter back into the gas tank, bolt up the nuts, attach the hoses and electrical connector and put the cover and seat back on
17. attach the battery at this time and turn the key halfway in the ignition, it should make a sound to show that the pump is working, but you should always use a fuel pressure gauge (b&m for $29) to double check
18. now clean up, put your tools away, and start on your next project

Just finished mine up. Took about an hour in my DC2. Great write up!
My Walbro kit didn't include the lock washer that holds the new filter in place, so I had to salvage the original one and make it work again. Hope it holds....heh.

ive found that if you go under the hood and relieve the fuel pressure on the filter, you wont have the problem of gas everywhere. just my 2 cents

for a del sol it's pretty much the same deal, the access panel is under the trim panel in the middle of the back, right between the two lock boxes
