HOW TO: Install New Lost Motion Assemblies in a Vtec head (LMA)

Re: HOW TO: Install New Loss Motion Assemblies in a Vtec head (LMA)
I’ll try to answer your question:
You don’t put the springs “on” your LMAs. You can see in the first pic the 2 different types of LMAs; the piston style and the spring style, the spring style being the newer. Step 9 the old LMAs are shown and in step 10 the new LMAs are shown. In the diagram you have listed, they would be #16, but since the manual is atleast a decade old, they wouldn’t update it just for a newly designed part.

This is where I ordered mine, it’s #18:
http://acuraautomotiveparts.org/acur...s=&view=normal
I believe the piston type has been discontinued and only the spring type is available when you order.

okay so its pretty late where i am haha and i didnt realize that on the acura parts page it says 2000 integra which has the GSR motor, it just slipped my mind, but just to make sure i can order these and put them in the b16a1 head no problem right?

they're all compatible with each other. i believe all of the spring type LMA's are the same, just the piston type LMA's varied.

do yall trust the websites like majestichonda.com and the acuraautomotiveparts.org sites for gaskets and seals and what not. i just know those things are a lot cheeper than the dealer, are they comparible, not trying to have a ton of leaks!

they sell Honda OEM parts cheaper than the dealer

yeah i bought weather stripping from majestichonda and a new headlight assembly awesome pricing and quick shipping. I will have to look more into the acura website as i think im going to try and find a gsr head and not use my b16 head.

i think if you have a type r head you gotta use type r lma's
all the type r's have the same jam part number

Re: HOW TO: Install New Lost Motion Assemblies in a Vtec head (LMA)
they don't make piston style LMAs any more, hence the reason why this thread was made and why i told you what i did. I used the same spring type LMAs on my B16b

I have a question sorry if its stupid, is the top picture just a different type of LMA, comparing original to new? And does the spring type just seat where the original one was?

Yes. Old version was a fluid type LMA , new versions are spring type. Take old ones out, put new ones in. It's pretty simple
