if u want to keep the car get the rust cut out,and new metal welded in its place
this will cost you about 1100 canadain for both sides if the rust is fairley bad

you can do it yourself but you dont know how so you dont have the tools. You are looking at 100 for the grinder 100 for a sander 150+ for a paint gun another 100 in paint plus 50 to 100 in materials. I doubt you have the needed skills to sand it smooth enough to paint. Take it to a body shop. Call PTAP in Coulumbus Gerogia and see who they recomend, or talk to your local speed shop, estimates are usually free.

Re: How hard to remove rust on our cars? (dniedacess)
I had mine fixed on my 92 hatch, what a ****** horror story!!!!!
I got an estimate for 850 bucks to fix both sides. They said that they would cut the rust out and weld in new pieces. Well, when the time came to get my car back, It looked great BUT about a week later I started noticing some little bubbles back in the same spot. I brought it back and they said that they didnt put new metal in but instead they cleaned out the area really good and put some epoxy sealer in and filled in the holes. They said they would fix it again for free. A week later I got my car back again, they said they found some tiny pinholes in the metal and that they took car of them and it should be fine now.
God dammit, I ended up taking my car back three times for them to fix it. Each time the rust would come back in about a week. I said **** it!!!! My fenders are still bubbling out and I just can justify spending 750 bucks a piece on quarter panels, not to mentioned the labor to get them put in. I probably just gonna sell the damn thing now. Why dont EK's ever have this problem? Wait, I know, Honda waited 15 years until they finally decided to do something about the rear quarter panels in just about every model of car they make!!! Sorry guys, Im just venting, 96 and up models dont have this problem.

Ther is a comany called corrosion x, we use thier products at work (avatar). I am not sure ifthey are available to anybody else butitis worth a shot. With it you just clean the area and spray it with the Corrosion x. It works great on aluminum but I have neverused it on steel. After it driel Lightly sand it and then paint. It takes a while to dry. Like 8 to 10 hours.
once again.
Good luck,
once again.
Good luck,

I need to do this on mine, I was thinking I could just use rust neutralizer behind the area I have to cut out, epoxy or fiberglass in from behind and smooth it out with a little filler, sand paint-sand paint-sand paint till it was smooth. Has anybody done this? What stuff did you use. I also considered maybe welding in metal but that would be pretty hard. Damn why couldn't honda make the quarters out of carbon fiber or something?

Re: How hard to remove rust on our cars? (froggie3kb)
me and my friend just did it like 3 months ago. It was completly sanded through. it looks nice even thought the paint on the car is off(I had to use his extra blazer paint for his winter car) its been 3 months and no bubbles yet. We put a bunch of that rubber undercoating on the back of the panel. Hope it holds up for a while.
