I don't know if it helps... but i had an eg with a B18b in it befor. I had P/S but had to take it off for the engine swap. No problems, just hard to turn at low speed.

I took mine off of my B16 and have had not problems. The belt, the p/s resevoir, and all the attaching lines. Everything works fine.

i dunno what is this myth about steering rack locking up. i took my PS pump, took out the hoses and didnt loop my steering rack as people suggested, and just left it as it is. Its been like this for about 4 yrs and not even one sign of locking up. My fluid lines are just exposed into the air.
I've done it to about 3 steering racks and not one of them have had any trouble. Just cutting the belt is not a great idea since there is still fluid running through your rack and will make your steering quite a bit harder than a normal steering rack would since the fluid will cause an extra resistance.
