bump starting is starting the car without a starter... when you start your car, your starter turns the flywheel - thus turn your engine... when you bump start, you're putting your car in gear, letting the wheels turn (but it's not turning the engine because your foot has the clutch pushed in) and when it reaches ample speed, you pop the clutch letting the wheels turn the engine...

when you turn the key, you're engaging the starter... if your car's in gear and your clutch safety switch is in the closed position, and your clutch is not depressed, then your key turn will definitely turn the wheels

thats funny, no offense.
imagine people starting their cars and the tires spinning until it started.

its something that connects to something else basically. the tires spinning turning the tranny, when u pop the clutch (engage) it spins the engine, and basically starts your car. you can only do it with the keys in the on position.

On certain cars if you have it in gear, yes. My friends old truck wouldn't start, so instead of pushing it into his garage we just cranked it and used battery power thru the starter to roll the car into the garage. Then ripped everything under the hood out haha

heh... on my last DX I had a remote start installed on my 5 speed (I know, some say that's stupid... and it turned out to be)... anyways, a co-worker drove my car to work (with me in the passenger seat dieing from food-poisening or something) and he left my car in gear when we got to the office and went inside. When I finally decided to go the hell home after feeling like complete ***, I remote started my car from my desk (on the 4th floor of the building) and went down stairs a few minutes later. When I get outside, I don't see my freaking car anywhere... then I slowly started to realize what had happened... He left it in gear so I look across the parking lot and see the car nose first into a brick wall with the front driver side tire hanging off of a loading dock ramp. Nothing but some small scratches on the bumper... and a racing heart rate. Plus a few laughs from the shop guys who had to pull my car off the ramp over-hang with a forklift... in any case... the car will definately roll (even with the parking brake on) under the power of the starter motor...

the newer modeled alarms disengage the remote start if the car is not shut off without the key then left running for an extra minute, such as a turbo timer feature. only then will you be able to use your remote start feature.

good idea
