what im going to be doing is T-ing the valve cover and pcv lines to one, then use an air compressor filter and then running it to my intake pipe. simple yet effective oil catch can, for under 30 bucks.

exactly the same way as the stock pcv system, youre just putting a filter in-line to prevent the oil from going into the engine.

PCV valve only pulls the crankcase gases out, but doesn't filter oil thats in the vapor. The purpose of the PCV valve is its like a one way check valve.
People add catch cans so the oil from the vapors doesn't have to go back into the combustion chamber because oil lowers octane level.
I have mine setup as a open breather because I got rid of the whole PCV system all together. Here's the thread
