How do you tell the year of your motor?
I got a swap awhile ago when I blew my stock motor. Now I have another motor in it, but I dont know what year the motor is.
Looking at the motor in my engine bay, how can I determine what year my motor is? |

DID. But had hard time finding the right keyword. Anyone else? |
Re: (Rice Ball)
Should be stamped on the head in one of the little circles. I dont think you will be able to see it if your stock heat shields are on. Another way to check is if its a us motor should be able to run the vin and find out what car if came from.

he said the block not the head.
to determine the block u have to get the first number of the engine block. And gsr mass production was in 94 so is it was a 1 your engine was a 94. if it is a 2 your engine is a 95. etc. just get the first number of the engien block |

Re: (stock93cx)
that year doesnt tell you all, if you read the first number and its 9/7 and the second, is like about 7 or something its a 98... THe second is the number and if its a curtain and above its the next year.

So does that mean that the second number is the month it was made? |

Maybe you can do something with the block's serial #. Not sure. That pic is of my 00Si's engine stamp. And here's one that somebody already posted. The 9/9 means it was made back in '99. But like somebody already pointed out, that's the head's manufactured-on date. http://www.myplacetoputstuff.com/mis...%20(Large).jpg See what you can figure out with the serial # off your block. Sorry for the big pics guys. |
Re: How do you tell the year of your motor?
My motor serial number is 4301383-1HG. I bought it used from a local Honda mechanic and drag racer, and am putting it in my 1993 Del Sol Si. I need the exact year, because, living in California, I'm going to have to have the engine swap inspected by the State smog control referee. I'll need all the obd-1 components for the engine year.
From the posts that I've read, it seems to be a 1994. Thank you, Marc Hesthal |
