How do you tell if a ECU is Manual or Auto?
I have a few ECUs laying around and I know that by useing the code on the side of the ECU you can tell if an ECU is manual or Auto. However I also know that the number depends on the year and the model of ECU. Is there a site that you can type in the number and it will tell you or can anyone lead me to some info on how to tell?

That thread is sorta useful as long as what the second person says is true. The pic that is posted however is totally false at least for a P75 and a P06. I will post pics as soon as the cams batteries charge.

Here is the pic of an Automatic P06 according to the 50+ rule.
According to the same rule I also have a manual P06 that ends in A02 and it does not have a single one of the little black tabs. So I would stick with the 50 and over being Auto and under being manual and I would throw that pic in the trash becuase it does not hold up for all the ECUs that are lited in the pic.

Yes the pic I posted was an AUTO however if you note the fact that I said also meaning that I have more than one I ALSO have one that ends in A02 and it has none of the black tabs.

Funny 2 fingers but 3 tabs in that pic and only 2 tabs in the pic that I took. I said that the 50+ rule was the way to go I don't see how I am being difficult I am just saying that the pic does not hold true for the ECUs that are listed. Here is the ECU that ends in A02 in the pic that was posted there was one finger and one black tab but if you look you will not find a single blak tab.

What's the difference between the manual and auto ECUs? What if I ran an auto ECU in my manual car?

Re: (93turbo16)
Would the CEL hurt any performance? Does the ECU go into some kind of limp mode if their is a CEL? Just wondering if I should even bother checking my ECU.
