How do you remove the airbag from steering wheel? (96-00)
How do I remove the air bag itself from the steering wheel in my 97 hatch? I have it all out, and unhooked, I just need to know how to get the top and bottom tabs loose/off/seperated or whatever to pull the airbag itself out of the unit. Thanks.

Hmm... guess I wasn't clear about what I needed. Sorry. I have the center of the steering wheel out of the car, I just need to know how to remove the bag itself from the center section of the steering wheel.

Now I just need to get the cage (gold piece in pic) off it so I can Pit it back in the center, screw it back in and have my ground for my horn.

Because I don't like highly combustable things sitting in front of my face. Because on the warning label for the bags it says they should not be stored at over 100* which the iside of my car definately sees. It also shouldn't come in contact with water as it may emmit harmful gasses.
My roommates friend got in an accident with her mom. Real pretty woman, well, she's been on dissability and has had over 9 corrective surgeries due to the chemical burns left on her face in the accident and you'd never guess she had one. There's a plus side, she'll never have to work a day in her life again... somehow I think she'd rather work than be in the condition she's in.

I see your point, but the alternative outcome could be a lot worse than burns on your face.

Re: (BlueIntegraBoy)
Personal preference. I'd rather go if it's my time, but I always wear a seatbelt and it locks up nice and tight, so I'm content with it. Crushed ribs and a collapsed lung are much more appealing to me than chemical burns. I just would rather have a stock steering wheel vs. a racing wheel and no SRS system.

Just wanted to add, if your removing the passengers side airbag you can get a block off tray from canada, our CX hatchbacks didn't come with a passengers side airbag, in '96 at least.
