Get the car up as high as you can so that you can hit the pin harder. I had the same problem unitl I jacked the car up as high as it would go. It gave me more room to swing the hammer resulting in harder hits.

Check this thread. It has a pretty decent way to get the "bitch pin" out.

you need to hammer it using a punch... i forget what size punch works the best but this is the best way, otherwsie the pic just mushrooms and will be harder to get out. good luck!

make sure that the punch is not small enough to fit inside the pin itself or it will just expand the pin inside of its shaft and be even harder to get out.

Does anybody even bother to follow the links? In there it says (from RedlinedVTEC):
The reason so many people have a problem removing it is they are using a bolt or screwdriver that doesn't fit and actually expands the spring pin a little so their hammering gets them nowhere. If everyone would just read their helms or do a search they'd realize that all they need is a 8mm non-tapered pin punch. It's a whole $2 that only takes 2 or 3 hits with a hammer to get the pin out.

raise your car up higher so you can swing your hammer harder, use a punch from sears, and wake it till it pops out...

Re: (R33CIVIC)
are you pulling your engine? If that is the case, if you remove all parts of the shift linkage except for that point, you can get the engine out no problem. it is SO much easier to do once the engine is out.

Re: (lilredridinghood)
if you are having trouble finding punches. use what i use. An old used straight VALVE from a honda. Use a vise grip plier and clamp the valve(or punch either one) onto the vise grip and hammer that sucker away. That way if you do hit it hard enough and it slips, it wont leave a big *** cut in on your fingers or you wont feel it as to if you were to be holding it by your fingers and hitting it w/ the hammer. That would suck.

Re: (lilredridinghood)
the BEST way i know if using the bolts that connect the header to the catback collector, or the bolts in the end of teh exhaust that conect the axle back to the cat-back, they work PERFECT and IMO they worked better then a punch so il go with <TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by lilredridinghood »</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">wd-40, a hammer, and an exhaust bolt ALWAYS works for me</TD></TR></TABLE> on this one
