Did you check the archived threads too? I could have sworn I saw a thread a long time ago on tranny codes.

they are not the same but there should be a serial number printed on the tranny just like on the sohc tranny's to show the difference between cx,dx,lx,vx trannies and si, ex tranny's there is a lil circle that says either a002 or b002, if u are really worried then i would call. honda man. . that is the best way to find out.

inless the tranny is HOT it should still have the VIN tag on it.... look for dc2.. that is gsr tranny. em1 would be 99-00 civic si (b16) and i believe del sol vtec is eg6 these are all chassis codes as you can see. which should be somewhere in the middle of the VIN number on the tranny.

jdm trannies do not have vin tags.
the only way to know what gearset you have 100% without any doubt is to open it up and count the teeth.

well what ******* engine is attached to ur tranny.. think about that. maybe and hopefully it should match ur engine and if not who cares cuz its only 5th gear and u could take any b-series 5th gear and through it in there man. good luck dont make things so difficult for yaself.

Look for the code on the transmission - i.e. S4C, S80, Y80.
Based on the indicated RPM of 3000 at the indicated MPH of 60, you have a GSR tranny. A B16 transmission should be at about 55-56 indicated MPH at 3000 indicated RPM.

i hope i didnt buy a HOT item. when i bought it it came with a b16. it has no vin on there. on my cusins 94 gsr no vintag rivited on the tranny. its just sticker. this tranny dont have rivit part drilled out. Also this tranny on the revers gear there is suppose to be a washer under the gear. This tranny didnt have it. so i dont know if i misplaced it what. And i just came back from honda and the si tranny dont have a washer on the reverse.

i heard that some gears are cut in a different line so i just want to make sure i buy the right part. and the counter gear needs to match the 5th gear. so if i put a si 5th gear which has a 5?mph at 3000rpm then the counter gear wont match if it was an gsr tranny.
